in recent history, we have some quality at the spearhead who have shown their potential and then managed to regress and suffer. some called it a curse, some called it confidence. who's had a rougher time with the 9 shirt?

Eto'o was a brilliant 9 for Barca. Even with Pep who publicly said he wanted him out. His last season was also his best, from the beginning to his CL final goal.

Eto'o had poor months prior to the CL final. But yeah.. Eto'o is too awesome to be on that list.

Eto'o scored 17 goals in that second part of the season only. And few people constantly moan about it.

Eto'o is one of the best strikers that the club has ever had. He should not be in this poll.
Ibra had a good start to his barca career and still had his moments during the rest of the season.
Bojan was great for a while but too much was expected of him and his small physique held him back.
Alexis had a decent first season but its safe to say this season has been poor on his behalf. All the other players had some role to play in sucessful campaigns while Alexis' first season only brought us the Copa. It has to be him.

Ibrahimovic got 11 in 14 games, and was injured for 3 weeks before coming back as a sub against Madrid and score the winner. Only to get benched a month later. People bitch about him every day.
I still remember when Eto'o was playing for us and he wasn't as good in the second half of the season as he usually was.

And I don't bitch about Eto'o. I loved him at Barça.

Some people still do though. Eto'o may have had poor run for a while for his standards but overall still had a brilliant season.

Apart of his battle of the egos with Pep, Ibra was killed by the system.

When Pep decided to bring back the small CF (Bojan and Messi as a false 9), it just meant Ibra is a deadman. He would always find his form and start perform again, because he's a brilliant player. He would perform in every, every club on earth. But not in this system. It's like buying a husky and moving to the desert few months later. You're just killing your dog. It was e ceremonial execution.

Alexis on the other hand, he doesn't really have an apology. He fits the system and all he has to do is just perform. Nothing else. But he can't.

Two very different situations. Ibra was not a great #9 for Barca, because he was not allowed to be. Alexis is not a great #9, because he lacks the quality.

Alexis is not a true cf like Ibra, Bojan or Eto'o, though. He just got the number.
