According to the Club’s medical services, tests confirm that Víctor Valdés sustained a proximal myotendinous rupture in the calf muscle of his right leg. The keeper will be out of action for approximately six weeks.

Valdés picked up the injury last night during the international friendly between Spain and South Africa in Johannesburg. The keeper came on for Iker Casillas in the second half, but he was forced to abandon the pitch on the 80th minute due to his injury. Reina came on in Valdés’ stead.

This season, Valdés has featured in 19 official matches with Barça and he’s conceded 11 goals. The keeper will most likely miss the team’s next eight matches: four in La Liga (Granada, Athletic Club, Villarreal and Getafe), two Champions League matches (Ajax and Celtic) and two Cup matches (the tie against Cartagena).

Oh and watch how much goals we will concede now with Valdes being injured and Alba returning. No offence to Alba but we will probably return to playing with two attacking full backs. Which has consequences for our defence.

Yeah, we've done everything the same way and everyone has been in the same form but we've played Adriano instead of Alba. Once this terrible player returns (why did we even buy him?) our season will be over for sure. Every big team we play in the next six weeks will walk all over us.

I'd settle for Barca being tied for tops of La Liga by the time Valdes and Messi return. Good thing Barca has entered this max injury period with a small cushion.

The guy waited until the last year of his career with us to play world-class and he gets injured

2013 sucks for barca, thought valdes is the only one who is improving and having a very good time and he gets injured. These injuries spoiled pretty much everything this year for barca. Just have to get over this one more month and hope these things never happen again. He had real good chance to replace casillas but now that dream may remain a dream. By feb our squad should be completely fit and fresh, hoping tata won't stop rotations just because some key players are injured.
