Trebles in European Football.

Then again, this Barcelona was to dominant that they recorded ridiculous wins which makes people wonder if the teams they faced were poor or the quality gap was this astronomical, which is a measure of Barca;s greatness.

You are right about that, it's crazy how all along the way every opponent of ours have been belittled to take a hit at our achievement, RM fans are still talking about how "lucky" we have been in CL (utterly ridiculous when you see who they played this season), and that this barça is average at best if not for Messi, we also only won LaLiga because Madrid let us, etc .. no one wants to admit that we have just been amazing this season, especially the second part of it.

We have convincingly destroyed anyone that showed up on our way to the trebble, so for me this one beats them all, and Inter as 2nd yes.

¡Gr?*cies Xavi!
The best final was United-Bayern in 99.
The best team was Peps Barca.
The most convincing team was this years Barca.

Quick question- Who would win Bayern 12-13 or Jose's inter?

Bayern all day. They were unstoppable that season.

Jose's Inter in a one or two leg knockout scenario

In a league type scenario, I'll give a sizable edge to 2013 Bayern

Bayern 2013 is probably the only team that could give us a real game on our best day
they're more polyvalent then 2010 barça too.. they'd beat Inter

1. Fewer number of clubs can win their respective league now, compared to 40 years ago. Same clubs winning/competing for the league title every season.

2. Only about 3 clubs maximum each season that are capable of winning their domestic leagues. ie. Clubs from the 'Big Leagues' (Spain, France, Italy, Germany & England)

3. Champions League money affecting 'smaller clubs' playing a strong team in the domestic cup, prioritising European qualification.

4. Champions League seeding. Set up to aid the 'bigger clubs'.

5. The rich are getting richer. The poor are getting poorer. In modern football, money rules.

:coffee: Net result: More Clubs achieving 'The Treble' in recent years.

You forgot to list two other trebles - ours in 1984 and 2001 (in fact in 2001 it was 5 trophies)!

In 84 we won the League Cup, League and European cup. In 2001 we won League Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Cup.

They're not really proper trebles now are they? Very good achievements but when whenever a treble is mentioned its referring to the league, the Champions League/European cup and the club's main domestic cup competition. If Liverpool won the FA Cup instead of the League Cup in 1984 then it would be a proper treble.

LOL whatever you say....League, cup competition and european cup. An authentic treble. Plus it was in an era where both cup competitions were taken seriously. We always took the league cup seriously back then as it was the first opportunity to be back in europe for the following season. A cup is a cup.

Winning any three competitions is not what teams are classed as winning the 'treble' for.

It is the League, CL and most important cup competition.

That is the ultimate which teams can win in a season.

lol anfield, there would be more teams listed if "other" trebles were considered... And 2 cups system suck especially for comparisons +they take away from each other's prestige.

In france most teams take it easy in the 2 cups, if there was only 1 it wouldn't be the same. On the other hand the spanish cup is taken very seriously
The Europa league is not a priority at all for clubs unfortunately, as it gets rewarding only in the final basically. French, English clubs really don't care enough about it.
