I know most of the people here like him, but he is far from being a Barca player
He even failed to be a starter in any of the teams he was loaned too

Granada was getting relegated one way or another and we had a clause in his contract that made them pay more if he played too much.

Las Palmas was using him as a starter after he earned the spot several months into his loan, and then he got injured.

And that's... it. He's only been on two loans.

Samper and Alena will never play if we get Vidal and if we can't convince anyone to buy Gomes. Ship them to Sevilla for a year.

Really, it's up to Valverde. With the signings we've made it'd be quite possible for all of Arthur, Alena, Samper, Malcom, Dembele, and even Coutinho to ride the bench while Valverde forces his 4-4-2 into every game. On paper we actually have a pretty good squad, perfect for rotations and tactical flexibility with a nearly perfect mix of youth, players in their prime, and veterans.

The problem is Valverde plays a terrible system and in that system he far prefers using veterans first, prime players second, and youth... never.

This, samper simply "new busquets" is not good enough

Some barca fans are desperate in search of new xavi-busi-iniesta midfield, now arthur is new xavi

Let just move on

If the likes of Gomes, Arda, and Vidal, all of whom are among the worst players to ever wear our shit, can all stay for multiple seasons, I don't see why Samper shouldn't at least get one. At this point it's not about him being the new Busquets or the new Xavi or any of that nonsense, but he could prove to be a good squad player, potentially one much better than the trash we're currently trying to get rid of.

All those player you mentioned were good at their clubs, valencia, atletico madrid, sevilla, based on that they were bought, turned out bad at the end, and of course then its hard to sell them or they dont want accept offers because barca give best salary, but why should samper get a chance when he couldnt get to first 11 in 2 clubs in relegation zone.

Barca have plenty of midfielders now, and its better for samper to search his luck somwhere else, otherwise at this tempo he will end up in segunda

But you turn it into a kind of moral issue. As if because the failed buys were entitled to playing time, so should Samper. We made mistake in those transfers but we already know Samper is not good enough

I vividly remember watching Valverde's last few post/pre match press conferences last season in which he asserted and reiterated that he wanted to work with a smaller squad next season.

(When asked over potential signings for our summer mercato)

Meaning, yes he wanted signings but more departures than players coming in.

We've made some very good signings but we're not trimming the squad anywhere near as well.

Samper and Alena don't stand a chance if the likes of Gomes stay.

He has a point tbf, the competition ahead of Alena is huge, we need to at least cut 3 or 4 more players. otherwise I would loan him :(

Well, if we are to loan him Betis would be a good option. Setien has been talking publicly about wanting Barca players on loan.

Would rather loan Alena there if it means more minutes than at Barca.

Be as well letting Samper leave for free.

Betis don't need Samper nor Alena. They have a very good depth in midfield and they prefer to have their own players instead of loanees.

Maybe we could sell them Rafinha or Denis.
