It's not like they don't want to but more they can't afford to pay him 6,5M gross. They already went way overboard to give that much to Denis. For example, Aspas is paid a bit less than 4M gross as by far their best and most important player and other players like Mallo, Lobotka and Mina are getting around 2M gross. Not to mention Rafinha is injury prone so even bigger risk for Celta to pay him high salary.

I think it's possible if we'll go this way Rafinha will have to accept pay cut in his contract renewal. It depends on how much he wants to return to Celta. Denis and his other friends from Celta are pushing hard to get him.

This deal is probably also depending on if Celta will manage to offload Pione Sisto today. He's like their Dembele and doesn't want to leave.

Don't think he would deny signing for Celta if he does well this season, and they offered him a permanent contract- it is almost like his home club now, having given him a chance to make it twice in career when it's utmost needed!

There is no mentioning of buy option. We can negotiate with Celta or other clubs next year but the most important thing is he stays healthy for most of the season and plays well. Buy yes, I would take 10m for an injury prone player with a year left on his contract. It's obvious no club was prepared to pay anywhere close to 10m this summer but maybe they will next year.
