Don't operate same at all.
They stick selves into 8 year deals to get around regulations while not researching anywhere near well enough and for players that prove to be big money flops, as manager wasnt involved in the signing. And then want to shift just about everyone who wasn't part of their assessment even though prove more useful. These people would sell TAA if came through the door and buy someone like Kurzawa for 80M instead of Robertson if were at Liverpool
All they want is to have someone to knock about that will stay in their lane and relegate the role to a disposable entity when not making their signing work in a model.
They would reject Pep for the position even if he had an aneurysm tomorrow and decided to apply for the job but demanded same conditions as every self respecting coach would
They basically fancy selves AI transfer gurus without a slightest hint of competence around the day to day team operation even though trying to exercise control over on-pitch elements of the club
You bring up different issues not related to what I pointed out like:
1) Yes, the 8yr deal is a questionable strategy, and jury is still out
Then:
2) all deals before last summer, including Enzo Mudryk Cucurella Badiashile etc, were made under 'temporary SD' Todd Bohley and reflect his lack of knowledge of the industry
If you look the summer targets they brought in under the new SDs, Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, serious professionals, you find people like Cole Palmer and Nico Jackson, their best players this season
Your last paragraph is also wrong on the same respect. The ones using 'AI' , or better trusting data to make decisions, are Winstanley and Stewart
3) They don't want a yes man, they want someone accepting this approach, the one I described above
Pep himself accepts it, Txiki finds Doku and Gvardiol according to the tactical profiles Pep asks. It's not Pep himself who says I want THIS player, invalidating the role of the SD there
