Nelson Semedo

People need to stop resorting to he's a victim of the system as an excuse for poor performances from our players.

Sure it applies sometimes, but we have made some underwhelming signings recently

Sure, our system was less than optimal, but Semedo is the blandest, no personality footballer I have ever seen here. Emerson at least adds grit and Dest potential.

This.

He's fast and this was even more evident in our slow team so most fans liked him because of that. But in reality he doesn't really bring all much else to the team. Regardless of a system if you're really great 3 years are more than enough time to show that.

Also, he was almost 24 when we've signed him. At that point players usually already are close to their full potential and there is not much room for improvement. Sure, there are exceptions to the rule but not many players will suddenly turn from average to world class at that age.

Yeah, that's why guys like even Coutinho and Griezmann look shit here. There is no structure, no plan and we had two mid table managers who had no clue. I can't really blame Setien, he just inherited Shitverdes mess.
Until there is a proper manager with a proper plan we will continue to look shit regardless who we sign.
It's not an excuse, it's a fact. Building a project takes time but it is worth it in the long run. Look at Klopp and Liverpool for a good example.

Good point. It's not like these players turned into shit, the system is not non-existent. No player who thrives on good system will look good here. It's all about inviduals brilliance.

Firstly i dont consider them that good to begin with, secondly the reason they suck here is because theyre square pegs in round holes.
The lack of an effective system doesnt help either but it isnt the main cause.

He will do alright at Wolves, he definitely isn't a top level right-back though. His indecision in the final third has never improved in all the time he's been here. That Bayern performance buried him though, it was painful to watch.

35 million? If that's true we should hire Mendes as a part time consultant and encourage our players to make him our agent.
In these times selling a player like Semedo for that price is close to genius.

Wont ever be a top RB at a top club but Wolves could suit him.

Will more or less be a right midfielder being asked to constantly makes runs into the box.

Doherty is average as well and worked for him.

Coutinho under performed in Bayern with both Kovac and Flick. Is flick a poor manager too?:banghead:
Griezmann failure was clear regardless of coach, he plays in same areas as Messi. it was stupid signing to say at least. He himself is an idiot to accept moving here.
And what does proper manager even mean? How many managers out there are considered proper manager?
There is like 4 or 5 that majority of fans might accept that title for them, and even those have many doubters. If a player need a certain manager to succeed then he isn't worth it, clubs rarely has many of those on consecutive basis.
Semedo had more than fair chance and failed, guy failed to provide any world class performance in Benfica, Barca or NT.

I agree with this, and claim the same. That doesn't mean Semedo is WC, but Dest will look the same, as well as any other RB who can't dribble past 3 players or have vision like Messi. If system changes then you need a decent RB.

We don't know how much of that is Mendes commission (or if his commission is + on top).

Wolves bought a Mendes player for 40m last week and 10m of that was Mendes comish.

To be a super agent aye.
