watch out, this could also be a way to clean a little bit his image in case he stays, I mean he stays not because a contract say that but because He chose to stay

He stays!

Fuck Man City. They want him for FREE. Some of you need to wake up and realize this. Man city are not putting in a bid! If Messi leaves this year, it is for free! Why would we want to lose Messi for free this year without any preparation?
At least next year, we have time to plan it out. And who knows, with a new board and possibly Xavi or Laporta coming back, he might sign an extension next year.

"“This compensation (€700M Clause) will not apply when the termination of the contract is by the player’s unilateral decision from the end of the 2019/20 season” is literally stated in the contract. You can’t battle against facts..."

Maybe under one condition, and that is must be communicated before the end of the season (?)

Still very risky. Messi loses? pays 700m? Barca loses? nothing?

Exactly. If there is no clause he is free to go, so why would he state this publicly?! He would be in Manchester signing his contract few days ago. Something strange is going on and the truth is somewhere in beetween..

There is nothing to negotiate. If there is no clause City won't give a dime for him. Things are pretty straightforward if what Messi family is claiming is true. If there is no clause why the hell is he still here? If things were that simple he would be in Manchester already.

We’ve had reports saying they’d pay up to 150m, but also reports saying they will only take him for free. So saying City won’t give a dime for him is just speculation. Imo they would offer a deal up to 100m if it comes down to that.

To be fair Barca has nothing to lose if we go to court and Messi has a lot to lose.

I sincerely doubt that. I don't think they would be willing to pay anything. IMHO either they get him for free or they won't even bother because his salary demands are atrocious.

Depends on the details in contract of the 'unilateral decision' and if there are dates mentioned etc.

If not then he can go for free and Barca move on. Otherwise see him in court.

City cant offer anything until Messi agrees a Barca player.

They have not offered anything to this point and anything else is pure media guess work of what they may offer.

They want him for free which could only change if Messi later agrees he is a Barca player.. which then ends his argument of being freed.

Messi has to have some of the worst advisors out there, PR wise. Using family members instead of pros can't be a good idea. Hasn't his dada also got him in the hot seat due to the tax issues. Almost GOT GOAT B-cued back then.

And now what. Roast lamb chops ??? this is madness.

Smartest move now is to stay and give it his all imo. Squad is getting fresh blood and no way the remaining vets will be slacking after the 8-2. That'd be crazy. It's come-back time baby!!!

Fuck this shit! So much disrespect towards the club. The club has to issue a statement and fine his ass. If he keeps on insisting than see you on court! FFS Ronaldo brought 100 mil to Real and Messi wants to go for free.

I think Messi is omitting stuff here. This clause only defines the release sum and what happens with it in case of a unilateral termination at the end of the 19/20 season (i.e., it does not apply). It does NOT define the unilateral termination of the contract and the conditions for it as such, which is the crucial point.

How many of you are willing to keep Messi if it means Suarez also stays for another season?

And if no, what is your preferred outcome? Messi leaves for free? Messi leaves for a fee?

Just curious.
