He just refuses to give in to old age. He is still capable of playing treble-era Raki as he showed.

This Rakitic is far from Treble year Rakitic. He was a lot more dynamic that season and even the season after. In Lucho's last season he even got benched. He can be combative and good defensively and score the occasional golazo, but on the ball he's regressing, and with all the minutes he's playing his legs won't be there in a couple of years.

Renewing his contract past 2021 would be dumb. He'll be 33 by then and we don't need both Busquets and Rakitic to be pushing mid 30s and be on very high wages.

Tottenham Rakitic was explosive, ran like a marathoner, provided attacking threat, defensive stability... what are you on about?

Explosive? Attacking threat? Apart from the goal he was anonymous in attack and hardly explosive. If anything he kept giving the ball away in dangerous positions throughout the game, so perhaps he provided attacking threat for Tottenham. I don't think we watched the same game.

Yeah other than that goal by him he was pretty bad.

He was lucky he had Arthur and Busi doing a lot of the controlling with Messi being on fire creativity wise.

Rakitic's assessment year by year:

14-15: excellent
15-16: good
16-17: poor (we had no midfield this season and he was a large part of it)
17-18: good defensively, but limited in attacking contribution
18-19: no signs of improvement in attack

but some here give him more leeway than messi. iniesta and xavi were derided as grandpas by a lot in their last years and they did 100 times more for the club too.

This cunt is undroppedable for some reason. I can't fucking stand him. Slowest twat going, only seems to pass sideways, and takes three touches when others need just one.

Great defensively as always.

Puts guys like Makelele and Gattuso to shame this guy with his defensive quality and positioning. Best DM in the World. Give him a raise and a new contract until 2024. Will be important for us after Messi retires.

Guy is exhausted....but EV continues to overplay him, keeping him on for the full 90 each game. Top of it, Croatia keeps picking him and plays him the entire time as well..
