Gerard Deulofeu

He could do a good job for us as backup the only problem is he plays the same position as messi. So if he were ever to come back would he be satisfied with a bench role in the hope of a few sparse minutes here and there while living in hope messi picks up a few injuries. He is at the stage of his career now were he needs to be playing regular football something unfortunatley at this moment we cant offer him

Maybe even stay at everton longer than that at the earliest he should be looking at coming back in possibly 3 or 4 seasons by that stage messi could possibly be on the decline a bit and gerard should be close to reaching his full potential.

Honestly sucks for him, but Barca have the 3 best players in the world, or 3 of the 4 best.. No room for him as a starter.

Electric winger...he's finding his confidence again. While his skill and dribbling ability was never in doubt. Would love to see him at Barca being the first in line to sub in for MSN instead of uselless and inexperienced at the highest level Munir and Sandro, but i'm afraid he wouldn't like that very much. Hopefully he comes back though, maybe in 3-4 years, when Messi and Suarez will have to start resting a bit more and not play every single match anymore.

He can play both wings equally well.

Gerard played on the left side very well ,in fact until he moved to Everton in 2013 it was his best position .no idea why coaches not interested in using him there
If he kept improving he can pretty much take Pedro role as 4th option striker .but with a hope of being a starter one day considering he is much younger than them unlike Pedro

Deulofeu is a nice surprise this season.
I never thought that he could reach even this level with that way how we played and with his attitude from the past.

Anyway, imo, coming back to Barca would be a suicide for him.
Messi will play EVERY SINGLE minute even when he don't have the energy to walk for the next 4-5 years (I adore Messi, but let's be honest, that is true), so for every young player (especially like Deulo, who is a key player in his team currently and who is totally on fire), coming to Barca, losing the momentum, getting a role of a 4th striker, and getting a role of a 10th most important player when you are on the field=well, that surely isn't a good option for him.

Yes, eventually, if he comes here, if he will sit on the bench=he could earn his starting spot in 3-4-5 seasons.
But also, there is a strong chance that he will never earn that chance (he may fail, he may struggle, we will maybe buy a new 100M guy for the attack etc).
So, coming back to Barca currently, while we have MSN is an extremely big risk.

He is fine at Everton, he is improving.
He is on fire only for 2 Months, he can improve a lot (imagine him being on fire for 2-3 seasons, for example).
Also, he can easily jump to a bigger team, like Liverpool or Arsenal and raise his level even further, and then maybe come to Barca, AS A STARTER.

Some will reply: "But that is not good for us. We would have to pay more for a finished player etc."
True, but risks for him are too high currently, and since we have MSN, we have like 1% room for developing of a young player who needs matches ALL the time.

The same story is with Halilovic.
He needs a lot of seasons of playing, improving and growing.
Returning back to Barca would also be a step back in his development.

These young guys are good, but NOT as good as young Messi or Neymar who were good enough to jump into a first team right away.
So, imo, they should return to Barca ONLY if they will be ready/good enough for the 1st team, or when we won't have MSN anymore (who needs to play 90% of time).

In the next few years ,Messi will sit down and get rest .whether he likes it or not .whether the coach likes it or not .that is already proved this year .if you are gonna force overload on your body injuries are gonna happen .
Messi is a hardworking legend but he is also very very smart .he already said that in 2014 he realized that he isn't as young as he once was and he needed to make changes to be at his best (so was changing his diet and training etc) .
That was when he just completed 27 ,not many players would accept considering themselves getting older at that age .Messi did and realized this is the case for a player of his type of talent who has been playing 1st team football at highest level since 18
Now ,when he is 29 or 30 ?do you think Messi won't be changing his mind making the necessary adjustments for his body? again he is smart enough for that .

PS:this is a bit off-topic note regardless Gerard .who I repeat again can play on both flanks

Also, he can easily jump to a bigger team, like Liverpool or Arsenal and raise his level even further, and then maybe come to Barca, AS A STARTER.

He would never join Liverpool ,they are Everton biggest rival .won't happen anytime soon

As for your main post ,it is all about Lucho or whoever in charge in summer 2017 .many players are gonna grow from the bench .
In fact I dare to say that might be the best way for integration of young players in Barca .Iniesta,Busquets,Pedro all started from the bench at 1st and kept growing .
But there should be light at the end of the tunnel for him .if Lucho truly don't like him as many members here suggest then he need to find home somewhere else and don't waste anyone's time .if Lucho has his mind changed then he should come back .it is all in the coach hand IMHO
