It was his pass. A pass leading to a goal is an assist.

Even so, the broader definition says it's an assist when a pass leads to a goal, regardless if the player dribbled before scoring. Thiago saw Villa ina good position and pass to him. If he didn't, Villa wouldn't be able to score.

There's no set in stone criteria as of yet, and I'm following one that counted Thiago's pass to Villa as an assist. Some people count even rebounds, hitting the post, or suffering penalties as an assist.

Wow, didn't realize Mache played the 4th highest minutes and Pedro the 3rd highest. Mache is probably not that surprising as Pique and Puyol were out for a while. But for Pedro to get so many minutes, especially when he was not at this best, and with Tello, Villa, Alexis on the bench is a little strange.
