There defence has improved since Van Dyk has arrived. Liverpool could of won 10-2 tonight with the chances they created and had.

Roma aren't totally out of this yet though. they got it totally wrong tonight with the high line but in Rome a comeback is possible.. Liverpools defence is terrible. same as our first leg (albeit we didn't play anywhere near as good as Liverpool) we were 3-0 up and they managed to get that away goal

The difference is Klopp won't park the bus like Fraudverde to defend his 5-2 lead.

fair point, I do think Klopp needs to play a little more defensively when they have the result in the bag though. im expecting a nervy start to the 2nd leg with Roma scoring early. Liverpool are bound to score atleast 1 though

I wonder if this result will put pressure on the board to make a change. Just think how good we would be with a top-class coach, the only top coach we have had in the last 20 years was Guardiola. Why do we strive to sign the best players but settle for mediocre coaches???? It is so frustrating and seriously pisses me off.

Rijkaard was a top coach.

Valverde is a big issue but so are our players. They tend to disappear in the big cl games. Our players have big names and the coaches tend to defer to them.

We need a big name coach who will be ruthless. Bench Pique, sell Suarez, replace Busquets.... get the players to press harder. It won't happen with Valverde.

Our team is so slow. In Cl speed and intensity are required. Valverde looks half asleep most of the time.

Liverpool started playing defensively and they lost the plot.

Liverpool started playing defensively and they lost the plot.

Klopp needs to learn and teach them then. the way Liverpool were pressing no way could they continue that for a full 90. i think if they get a decent GK and replace Lovren that would be a huge help

Klopp ain't parking no bus.

He may concede in Rome, he may even lose the game...but his team will attack and likely get the goal or two that will completely seal the tie in Rome.

We needed two own goals in the first leg and were not the better team over two legs.

Not because "it happens" or because Roma are good.

Roma are SHIT with a big S.

We were just THAT BAD. Unless something major happens this season whether with the squad, Valverde getting some balls or Valverde leaving, the same will happen next season. Another beating in the CL like Barça are a bunch of minnows.

Not Valverde's fault, this Liverpool team would have destroyed us too. Valverde can instruct his players to play attacking football as much as he wants, if they're too slow and weak they'll lose duels and second balls and the control of the match.

Were the players slow and weak versus Sevilla in the CDR final? Stop making lame excuses, tired of this shit seriously EV can fuck off!

Maybe because Sevilla is a worse team than Liverpool and Roma?

See, I don't buy this.

Klopp has 32 year old Milner and Jordan Henderson fighting for every ball and pressing like madmen out there.

You say our players are too slow and weak, well I would say that comes down to EV whether fails to mentally and/or physically (fitness and training regimes) prepare our team for his demands.

It's not like we don't have physicality or technically inclined players in our squad. They seem to lack the proper preparation though.

That's where EV fucked up. There's no place for naivety in the CL knockout rounds.

Trying to hold on for dear life. He was basically playing rope a dope for the entire game. Hell you could even say Russian roulette with his tactics.

Hopefully he learns and improves next season. Don't try to play like an Athleti or one of those past Italian teams that can defend a 1-0 lead to the death unless you have the players to do so.
