It never halved Neymars price and clubs were willing to pay a lot more than Barca did anyway.

Big clubs who have always spent big are not the reason for this market.

It is down the number of clubs that can now compete for players.

Pointing to players that were over spent on means nothing and is not a cause of these huge prices anymore than bargains are taking it down.

Whatever you say. Ney, Ter Stegen and Raki were not "bargains" when taking into consideration their contract situation and their reputation prior to us signing them. If Mathieu was 22 years old instead of 30, we would have probably paid 50m euros for him. Thats how we roll. People will get shocked the next time we buy a player under 25, smashing their expectation of what we will pay.

Whatever you say. We are as much part of this "inflation" as the rest of them. Its just that we focus on oldies with a short shelf life. If we buy someone good who is younger than 25 like most top clubs do, people here will go crazy because they cant believe the price we just paid. It will be probably be close to twice as expensive as what most people here assume (judging by the prices people throw around). When I mentioned Bailly as an option a few months ago, several people claimed he was no where near good enough for us, and wanted us to sign Marquinhos for 40m euros. Good luck with that!

What a crock of shit!

It's the epl who are doing this. Even a club like Psg are thrifty compared to the epl clubs.

What we are about to witness is a shift in power from La liga to the epl. All the best managers have turned up there and with the TV deal even the lesser clubs are splashing the cash.

In three years the epl will start dominating European football.

Just wait and see what we'll splash if we buy someone younger than 25 for once and who has more than a year left on his contract. People havent woken up because we have bought oldies and players with a year left on their contract so they mask what we're willing to pay.

United will pay for Stones.. Mourinho is a big fan of him, tried to bring him to Chelsea last summer + they will sell Blind so its kind of logical they will go after CB..

United are not buying Stones, who the hell pays 80M for a young defender. Everton doesn't want to back down. They are very ambitious, promised 80-100M transfer budget to Ronaldo Koeman. Both stones and lukaku might want to leave but everton doesn't want to sell them. They will stick to their demands.

.
Bla,bla, same shit every year. No matter how much money the EPL has, since players like Neymar,Suarez,Messi,Ronaldo,Bale,Modrić,Busquets,Carvajal,Pique are already in La Liga it won't happen. Not to mention that Pogba is 90 % to join La Liga. They can have all the money,RM can still pay the same wages to top dogs. And EPL teams aren't good enough to attract biggest of the biggest. It's been like that in this whole Messi+Ronaldo era.

If theirs any truth to this(Likely BS) The club saw Umtiti as a much better fit for us at this moment in time than Bailly.
