You have a good point there, I think the player had a good say in this too though.

It's a shame this. Although Villa gave some good performances as a left-forward he is a striker, played out of position for 3 years, and even though the right decision was to play Messi as the striker it just feels like it was the wrong move for all parties. I'm not saying he didn't give some great performances but it seemed like we needed a striker to replace Zlatan, bought Villa and then stuck him on the wing. When ha came back from injury it was like watching a different player. Still good luck to him. In his prime he was arguably the best SC in the world.

He did well on the wing in his first season. It all went downhill for him after his injury though.

I honestly think they could have been convinced to pay more.

Why would Atletico do that? They could find some other striker, it's not like they have to have Villa, and then we'd be stuck with a 32 year old bench warmer, earning 8 million in wages, probably wanting a lot of playing time... He shouldn't start for us, (striker and left wing are occupied, he isn't good on the right) but he most likely would be unhappy if we didn't start him.
