One is a CB and one is a winger ffs... Koscielny top speed was over 35km/h last season. Dembele isnt even that fast.

Notice Piqué? Yeah, Piqué actually isn't slow when looking at top speed. But also notice how players like Asensio, Thiago and Iniesta are towards the bottom, yet they are the kind of players who consistently beat their opponent on the dribble? Guess what. Top speed doesn't matter in football. If it did, Marcus Rashford would be one of the best strikers in the world. He's not.
At the end of the day, a football pitch is still relatively small which is why acceleration is infinitely more important than top speed. You rarely take runs that are long enough for you to actually reach that speed anyway. Maybe once or twice throughout an entire match. And the really good players - though this mostly applies to defenders and midfielders - very rarely need to reach their top speed. That's usually a sign that you are behind someone or chasing something, which is never really a good sign if you're a defender or a midfielder.
Manolas needs his speed to be a good defender. Nesta didn't. Piqué usually doesn't. Manolas takes a lot of risks pushing forward when defending, and as a result, he often gets caught out. He needs to be fast, especially on the first couple of metres. One day he won't have that in him any more. Then he won't be half the defender he is today. This is one of a number of reasons why Piqué will always be and has always been a far, far better defender than Manolas. He just simply reads the game much better and anticipates where to be. That's what the best defenders do.

Sport claims with Umtiti recovering quickly, and with Lenglet's form, there won't be any signings in January for a CB. it also says Valverde is happy with Chumi.
How did Chumi play? Barca twitter been all over him.

De Light wouldn't play too much in a short term future (2-3 years) since we have Pique, Umtiti and Lenglet.
Unless, as fans wish: we would drop Pique, and/or bench Lenglet so that De Light can get more chances and develop.
You know that idea: drop someone who is a safe bet but with a lower potential for someone who is young and has lots of potential on paper, but hasn't even came here yet.
But since Pique is a club icon, he won't be benched, and he is still a good player.
And a guy whom we already have, Lenglet, is playing quite good.
Quite better than fan's favorites Dembele, Malcom, Semedo.
So, to some extent: if those guys deserve chances even though they play hot and cold or bad, why would we bench Lenglet who is better than them in his 1st season?
Pique is 31, Umtiti 24, Lenglet 23.
If both 3 will play good, I don't see too much room for a new guy in the next 2 years, unless is we sell one of them.

Basically.
I dream of signing backup GK, DeLigt, FDJ and Maxi Gomez. Sell or get rid of Vermaelen, Jasper (deserves to play and we can receive some solid return), Samper, Denis, Malcom and Munir.
