Feel really bad for Ansu and we really need to manage his recovery carefully with his future and career in mind, if he needs another surgery so be it, get him the best course of treatment and options. He is our future.

Give him as much time as needed to properly recover. That is the most important thing. There is no sense rushing him back this season at all.

Cugat & Barca never actually explained the details of the player's surgery back in November although more than likely Cugat preserved as much of the meniscus as possible through repair. Meniscus repair is a tricky bit of work and regenerative therapies are still an evolving science to aide in restoring a stable knee joint

If he can't really put any weight on it for physical activity after 3 months, I'd guess he is going to be back in surgery and we should not expect him back before the end of the season

Kimmich had the same injury and he was back fully up and running at the beginning of January. Does that mean a different procedure was done to his knee vs. Ansu's?

Number one, a meniscus injury is never identical to another. Number two, Kimmich had a lateral meniscus tear while Ansu's was on the medial meniscus - two very different tears and recoveries. Number three, recovery is never the same from one patient to the next even when similar situations/injuries. But yes, procedures can differ - repair is more or less done similarly but the 'regeneration' or scaffold rebuilding of the full meniscus can be done in a variety of ways.

Thanks! I am totally fine with them taking the longer approach or whatever you call that, I just hope they did it right the first time and this latest news about him possibly needing another surgery is not due to something they planned or did wrong at first.

At this time, just praying that Ansu will have a full and proper (not necessarily speedy) recovery.

Thanks. From the video that behindgrowneyes posted below, sounds like medial meniscus tear is less severe or serious than a lateral meniscus tear?

Completely different case from that of Umtiti who had his meniscus removed while a teenager and rushed himself back for the WC. We are not rushing anything with Ansu.

Another reason as to why elite clubs shouldn't depend on one or two players for wing play, because of situations like this. I hope the club is smart and decides to take a punt on a few experienced/talented forwards this summer.
