Lucho is on a weird revenge mode against Madrid.

He'll probably call Samper next and then he'll give a Spanish nationality to Halilovic.

Real doesn't make it very easy for Lucho. Nacho is the best of the bunch

Interesting.

He has a release clause of 45m, but for Barca it's 40m.

Imagine if he's our next #9. Haaland in the mud.

Striker is their weakest position and Abel has a goal and assist in 3 games (118 minutes) while being in decent form.
There is some "giving you an extra push" with those selection at times, where you give a player who doesn't deserve the call yet but see the potential and hope that NT experience will give you a help to take the next step.

Yeah, we could argue Nacho should/could be called up instead of Azpilicueta for example but with Ramos now in Paris (and injured as well) and Carvajal injured they don't really have many options.

Odriozola - they don't have a true RB in the squad (Llorente and Azpi will play there) so he could be considered but he's far from regular for RM
Isco - far from his best and they have a lot of midfielders
Vazquez - not really good imo but surely there are other average players in this squad so why not give him a chance? Also versatile which Lucho should like.
Asensio - could be called up ahead of Adama who was poor last season but at the same time he adds something different to the team other players don't.

It will take a big improvement from what he is now to ever consider to trigger that release clause. He's decent but lacks goalscoring ability

I've never expected a guy who has scored 6 goals in 40 games in Segunda B to start for Spain NT. Fair play to him, he's improved ok at Braga but still don't see him ever making him at a top club (or even second level teams) nor having longterm future with NT.

Could come back to LaLiga after a pretty bad time at Braga over the last few seasons. Cadiz ask for him but as a simple loan, whereas Braga would prefer permanently selling him.

Still shocked that Lucho gave this guy a start.
