Losing ball so often, the reason why he isnt starter in la liga matches ahead of iniesta, who still play like he is 27

in LA Liga and copa
we have to play in this format

-------------------------------stegen(cillesen)-----------------------------
semedo(roberto/vidal)---pique(mina)-----umtiti----------alba(digne)
----------------------------------bousquets--------------------------------
---------------rakitic/poulinho---------------coutinho(iniesta)-----------
messi(dembele)-----------------------------------------dembele(coutinho/iniesta)
--------------------------------suarez(alcazer)------------------------------

just Coutinho will be out in CL
so Coutinho must be in first 11 in every league and copa matches cause he can not able to play in CL

Come on guys dont be so over critical. This was no where near a poor performance.
Despite hes still adapting u can still see his worldclass in so many actions. The way he handles the ball is just special.
So glad he joined Barca.

Where he gon play then? He’s clearly not a midfielder...

He's no Suarez or Mats for it to be as 'clear' as you say.

He's not a pure winger either. The best role for him in our system is the hybrid of the 2, left in our well-working 442.

He played in midfield for Liverpool with Salah, Mane and Firmino ahead of him and did it masterfully. Where did you draw the conclusion that he can't play in midfield from? He can do it for sure, as his technique allows him to. Just have to get used to what that role means for a Barca player, not a matter of quality or skills at all.

He is far from masterful when paying in Midfield nor can he do it easily, he as more or less been an attacking is entire professional career he won't be able to just flip a switch and play Midfield, when he played midfield for liverpool they were even more explosive in attack but even more open in defense and for liverpool that is saying a lot

He will eventually learn to play in Midfield, and will be a great success for us,but it will take time to learn how to cover space better, how to rotate the ball better.

These aren't things he instinctively does, as he is way way more of an attacking midfielder let's say kaka type to make the example simplier, than he is a decision type, I'm trying to leave iniesta out of it.

1 bonus of signing him in January is that we have a house bunch of time to have him develop new habits and by next season he should have it.

He can play midfield with ease and already understands how to play it.

Needs to get used to the way Barca play it.

If anything Liverpool looked worse defensively since he left as dont have same control in midfield.

Not that big of an issue, since he will be an attacking midfielder, not a Xavi-type. The one from our midfield who will take more risks and try more difficult passes. We have Busi and Raktitic who give a lot in defense. We don't need all 3 midfielders to be defense-orientated, like Busi and Raki clearly are.

What he needs to do is estimate better when to play it more safe and when to insist driving forward. And to provide enough workrate to cover his area when off the ball. Some of his best minutes for us where when he subbed Iniesta and played in his spot.

He's not a clear winger or a clear AM, but can play both and shine in both roles. But he has to play there constantly. He won't master a position if today he's played as a midfielder and the next week he's a winger or even a striker. Not everyone is Messi to go into and out of 3 positions at the same time (and even then, it helps Messi that he rarely has to do any defensive work).
