He's not just just referring to the real Madrid game obviously.

We missed out on pedri and de jong and has the Facts showed we kept it together and won the league and was in it until he went down this season.

No Gavi and no it would take a miracle to win it.

We definitely miss Mats but that's goes without saying.

Gavi is the beating heart of that midfield and team.

Deal with it.

FDJ played as many minutes as Gavi in the league last season...

When Gavi played without FDJ/Pedri domestically last season Barca won 1 of 4 games.. v worst team in league.. Elche.

Barca won every game in league but one that Gavi didnt start until won and that was away to Real.

Nothing to 'deal' with.

By far the biggest miss last season was FDJ when not playing.

Barcas form this season went after the Celta game at home... from then until his injury Gavi started 7 games.. Barca won 3 of them and that includes about biggest scudding Barca have taken and won a game in recent memory v Sociedad.

Thats not to blame Gavi... the team as a whole dropped but it happened with Gavi in it not after he got injured and that injuriy coincides with about worst one Barca could have in drop in quality with MATS.

Same folk who went on about how Gavi had regressed as expected in 2nd season now making out he was vital.

Folk dont say 'but he is only 18 you expect too much' or 'this dip is expected with young players' if Gavi was good last season.

Genuinely cant think of 1 league game Gavi had last season that was top clas.. not one.

Xavi is always the man that turn De Jong from a 75M joke signing to a competent midfielder, with some tough love and setting the standards he expects from him positionally, no more running around like a lunatic and having zero impact on the game

So it more than balances out his Romeu decision for 3m euros.

Fake news... FDJ was best player after Messi the Koeman season.

Was also the best mid when Barca had best run of form when Xavi first arrived.

Try again.

Such a 'joke signing' teams were coming in to pay more than Barca did to take him away.

Top stuff.

Anyway back to Gavi.....

Gavi is not perfect, far from it, but he is a fighter and brave as a lion. All I saw on Wednesday night was players backing out of 50/50s and little to no aggression. Gavi is an example at that and his tenacity has been missed that is absolutely clear.

It could well be that the squad having had so many injuries has resulted in those injured players coming back and playing with fear of getting injured again. The clearest example of that is Uruguayo, who since coming back has gone from being one of the most aggressive players in the world, to playing incredibly timidly.

There is a chance Gavi does the same, which would result in him being half as effective as he was, as well.

One of the only three untouchable players on the team in my humble opinion.
Alongside Pedri and yamal.

Araujo would also be on the list but not anymore after some horrible performances.

His detractors can say what they want, but we miss the kids.

His character and leadership on the pitch, in that midfield is missed, only Gundogan has it right now.

Pedri ain't that, de jong isn't that.

I'm convinced that if he was on the field, we would have conceded less goals against Girona, Villarreal and last night.

Even against real, simple because even though xavi fucked up big team, by setting a high line with no press, he can't help himself put to press his opposition in Midfield.
