He was never the fastest CB but he made up for it in several different ways.

But an unfocused-mentally lost Pique=disaster. yeah he has Semedo,Umtiti and Alba next to him in the back line and they are pacy but when he's off form it doesn't matter he's currently the biggest weak link in the Back line and teams have been taking advantage of it.

Despite Mascherano's age I definitely feel more safer with him along side Semedo,Umtiti and Alba than I do Pique.

Indeed. He is world class, top 5 CB in the world even, just hugely underperforming right now as he he's demonstrated a tendency to every now and then (a tendency that was much worse and more frequent before Lucho made him get his head out of his ass.). Unlike Rakitic who was never world class and overperformed in the treble season.

Again though, should be benched like under Lucho. EV needs to make him get his head out of his ass. Pique with his head in his ass is a very poor defender. Could be because he doesn't have the pace to cover for his mistakes so he always needs to be sharp and focused enough not to make them.

I think Lucho's departure could be what has made him lose focus. EV needs to make Pique know that he doesn't expect any less from him than Lucho did, and that he, like Lucho, is not afraid to bench him.

No he isn’t.

If we go by that logic where does he draw the line?... Maybe he shouldn’t play in La Liga too because its Spanish federation according to your logic.

If we learnt anything yesterday it’s that football and politics should stay separate, that’s why Pique still played even though the Catalan people were suffering.

Firstly, You don't know what he voted for. It's possible to be a proud Catalan and not be in favour of independence.
Secondly, he doesn't consider playing for Spain a patriotic act. Just like players like Diego Costa who change nationalities to be able to play football, it isn't an act of patriotism.
