If he's going to be playing as a Pivot, he needs Arthur ahead of him than someone like a Roberto/Workhorse in general.
.
He needs a guy that he knows he can trust in helping get out of a jam when getting pressed/cut off. He doesn't need two players in front of him who are only good for work rate. When you give him two players that aren't exactly great for building up it makes it too easy for the other team to stick one or two players on him leaving him isolated.

Guys like Alena, Roberto, Rakitic and Vidal are players Who cannot do what Arthur can do but they have their own strengths elsewhere.

No, seriously, we need to limp our way this season and hopefully nick another title. Help us Messi please...

CL is out of the question. Done. Impossible. There are at least 2 teams out there who play on a different level to us. In reality there could be 4-5 or even more.

I think this season will be about suffering and trying to clinch another title.

Then lose this moron manager, and bring a guy who actually is very drilled in attacking football based on a possession progression. Who actually knows how to build attacks and create spaces.

Feel sorry for the boy , he has real quality but this mug is going to play him as a defensive midfielder and knock any of his attacking style out of him.

We had the discussion here last week and funny enough it seemed like 90% on here want him to play pivot

Already regretting joining this soulless team, cannot believe he left that exciting project for this depressing shitfest.

Anywhere but the role he was asked to play tonight , he is wasted as a defensive midfielder.
This manager is going to destroy him the longer he is here.

At Ajax he constantly covered the most distance.
1 match under Valverde and he covers in 90min the same distance as Inaki Williams in 45min.

Frenkie will be a lot more compatible with Arthur and ironically Busquets as well.

Rakitic and Vidal will disrupt his game tremendously.

Because Ajax is having a constant flow of people from attack/midfield moving into the ball or getting in the box. Nobody sticks to position, but they all cover each other. Watch the CL games, and see how Ziyech, Neres, Tadic & vdBeek are all on the move. They combine their way to multiple changes per game.

At Barca (under Valverde). Everyone is static, no midfielder is allowed to get into the box, and they all stay in position at all costs. The dynamic way we played against Napoli 2nd half is completely forgotten in the course of 1 week.

Total football. Art forgotten in Barcelona.
