He is the only reason why I think Barca can win the CL next season. Griezmann was too often invisible in big games but I hope he proves me wrong.
This "being invisible in big games" myth is utter trash. Suarez was invisible in big games for Liverpool. Ronaldo was invisible for Madrid in big games until he played with the best midfield in world football. Its a team game. If Griezmann is worldclass and our midfield, defence and attack are as well he will make the difference in big games.

Last season Juventus midfield and Atleticos midfield were crap. While Griezmann was invisible both matches against Juve Ronaldo scored a hattrick to win the tie. But we will see what Griezmann will do here.

Oke technically 2, because he played as an attacking midfielder for Jong Ajax. But they play in the second division. So it's not the highest level.
But Frenkie didn't had an easy career imo.
When he debuted for Willem 2 (16 years). He was the most talented player of the team. But he didn't play that much. Because they were fighting for relegation
They needed physically strong players. Not players who are great on the ball.
A few months later he went to Ajax. He played mostly with Jong Ajax (reserve team like Barca B).
His other team mates were given a chance at Ajax 1; Nouri, vd Beek, De Ligt, Mazraoui, Justin Kluivert etc etc. But Frenkie was still playing for Jong Ajax.
According to former coach Peter Bozs. Frenkie walks to much with the ball. He should play the ball quicker. But that's just his playing style.
That's like asking Messi not to dribble past defenders.
When Peter Bozs left. Other former Ajax coach Marcel Keizer gave him a chance. But he made him play as a CB .

I don't think he's an attacking midfielder, but I don't think he's a DM either. I think he should compete for the Xavi position or no. 8 position if possible. He likes driving the ball forward way too much, dribbling, and placing in line breaking passes to be a DM. He's not a good finisher though.
Either way he's wasted as a DM. Yes, yes "Fernandinho plays as a DM for Pep" but then again that's Pep, for Valverde De Jong would end up playing as a static busquets or rakitic in the DM position. Much rather have his talent further up field.

Agree on a lot in your post, but he played 6-7 games at CB because if injuries / suspension. Viergever & Wober where the first option for LCB, it happened even more that they played 3-4-3 with Veltman, de Ligt, Viergever/Wober or 4-3-3 with Veltman - de Ligt as CB.
Yes he hasn't showed multiple seasons, but he was there for the last 2 seasons. Remember Barcelona wanted him already last Summer, because of the second half of season 17/18.
He bossed every player last season, and impressed so much Griezmann told international press he never played against someone like F. de Jong.
All news outlets currently are telling us, he is impressing the players and staff with his abilities and due to his nature he is really likeable. (Also learning Spanish on a fast pace, which really helps).
I believe it will take us not until the first CL games, and he is the 3rd guy on the roster (behind Messi & Ter Stegen)

Fair point. I think the team will hugely improve in UCL games when they are told that the knockout stage has actually two legs. They might not have known this for the last two seasons.
And I hope Frenkie can support the team with his skills and does well.
