That was his release clause, therefore there was no option to negotiate a cheaper fee. Meanwhile, no one made Barca spend those sums on players that didn’t warrant the fees. At least PSG got their monies worth.

Who says we don't spend it wisely? Have you looked at our trophies in the last 4-5 years? We're complaining we haven't made the CL semis in the last 3 years, while PSG never made it in their history. Just because we moan a lot, doesn't mean we are shit.Think you have some things confused in our head. You might read on this forum how we call Suarez shit, or Messi lazy, Pique idiot and things like that. In realty these players are legends of the game.

looking at transfers these days I come to respect Fabregas and others who played for us more , even though i consider him a flop

I'm inclined to agree with your post.
As a 21-year old youngster there are worse things in the world than to live off your hobby, swimming in millions, playing with some of the best players in the world and live in one of Europe's finest cities.
The funny thing is... All of the above applies to both clubs. The only difference between the two clubs is... Well you do the math.
Sporting Reasons :
-From his own viewpoint, he will get a 100% starting spot at PSG because, quality aside, we are so thin in quantity with only one real midfield in Verratti.
-From a collective viewpoint, it is still a better team and league than where he is right now. More realistic chances to win CL even if PSG failed hard those last years.
Monetary Reasons:
-Best financial offer for himself. Good for his future, his family future and his upbringing.
-Best financial offer for his club. Reward the clubs that believed in him instead of making those clubs lose out on some millions for his selfish interest (or dream).
-Best financial offer for his agent. Reward his agent that believed in him and negociated a great deal for his future.
Lifestyle reasons:
-Get to live in Paris as a rich young man.
-His girlfriend seems to rave about Paris, as can be seen on her Instagram. She prolly played a part in his choice. Remember she is the one that woke him up at the news PSG was closing in on him : https://en.as.com/en/2018/12/09/football/1544357580_776526.html
Paris is prolly a favorite destination for her personal life aspiration.
Bonus reason:
-Seems like he is friendly with Mbappé and they talk to each other regularly. It can seem flimsy when you compare it to his affection for Messi but look at Mbappé example : He was a fanboy of CR7 with posters all over his room. When the time came to join Real Madrid who was ready to pay the transfer fee, he prefered to go to PSG. He said he was already talking with Neymar, with whom he has a budding relationship. He said that you have your childhood dream but now, when it comes to his present and his career, he focus on Mbappé (himself) and that it is really a joy to play with Neymar. Maybe same thing applies to de Jong.
