Him being a La Masia player gives him some bonus points for sure, but to be fair I see him also as a versatile player who gets the Barca style of play and wouldn’t mind being a sub if needed be; that is a good option to have in your squad I would think

He did well vs Lyon in the Champions League last season. If Sergi playing in midfield means Rakitic on the bench then I'm for it, he's useful unlike the latter.

People give him far too less credit. He can play in multiple positions. Has good tecnical ability in both defense and midfield. Has the ability to assist and isn't bad at taking a shot either. Not every team can have XI positions filled by great players.

It’s Roberto who darts five yards forward .. puts his foot on the ball then looks to pass it back or square at best . He’s better suited to rugby where they do run forwards then pass backwards

Roberto will be the best back-up RB in the world if Semedo makes him one.

However he does not have the peripheral vision and field sense to be a top midfielder--he doesn't have this when played in a more central role as well as Bus/Raki/Arthur/Aturo quite honestly (and surely de jong too).

His best positions are RB and RW--though he is competent enough in LB and midfield to provide emegeny cover. It is rare to have a player so useful though not a starter if everyone is fit and in form, Milner is the same for Liverpool though he plays with more of a point to prove edge to him than Roberto does.

maybe true if Rakitic leaves but otherwise that would be too many midfielders

Lol this guy should be benched for good. He is not good enough for any position as starter. He is at best a squad player and thats it. One of the captians as well oh how far we have fallen..... Saddly he will start next season as well with semedo not being able to bench him...
