14 - João Félix

This is some next level stupid from Atletic, I actually would give 90% chance that this kid will be a massive flop and not even a starter, and 10% chance that he will actually turn out like Mbappe.

He's the closest like to like replacement for AG in current market. He might not be on AG level atm, but his ceiling is definitely much higher than AG.

And about the financial gamble, they're already getting 120M from us, which they'll use on Felix so its balanced that way. Plus Hernandez money and Rodri money as well.

In the age of fake news, approach with caution when reading ridiculous numbers - no chance Benfica was going to cash in on one of their biggest talents even a year ago for a paltry sum like that

I don't know the exact time when this was supposed to happen but it's very likely he was still in their B team at that time under youth contract (He has only signed a professional contract in November 2018) and maybe Benica board didn't rate him much and their former coach Rui Vitoria certainly didn't gave him much playing time. I've read some time ago it was Bruno Lage who recognized Felix's talent after working with him in Benfica B and he immediately made him a starter when he became first team coach in January.

Look at Felix's stats from this season.

He barely played in first half of the season and when he did he was used mostly as a winger but when Lage took over he set the team to Felix's strength playing him as SS alongside Seferović and he exploded.

So while I agree it's most likely fake news I think there could be some truth in those rumours. We'll probably never know though and it's not really important now.

as i've said before - he reminds me of kaka. skill, elegance in movement, playing position. atletico can integrate him easily into their system. he'll play behind morata/costa as a second striker/forward.

120mil is ridiculous nonetheless, but if he reaches kaka's level....

Ask a Benfica fan, Felix is heralded for awhile

I get it that you're the biggest fanboy of his, and sure he looks great against Liga NOS defenders but he needs to make a big step to do it in la liga. From the very start obviously Atletico fans and newspapers will keep repeating the sum paid for him after every game, he's too young so the pressure will most likely get to his head, and will make it hard for him to take the next step, seen it so many times now, this transfer has flop written all over it.

i literally know jack shit about him but then again i'm not a shallow minded retard. can you tell me more about these young strikers you've seen so many times flop in Atletico?

Felix's fee:

30m > 48m > 48m = 120m

+ 12m for his agent or agents involved in the deal

He is going to earn 3.5m after tax or 7m before tax per year.

Very excited to see how he will do and such a signing is good news for the league as a whole too.

Atlético has been incredible at finding successful young attackers from abroad in the past many years (overall) so I would not be surprised if Félix was a new Agüero in the making or even had a higher celling.

Loved what I saw of him at Benfica - but must not be played out of position as a ST, like he was for Portugal. He is ideally a CAM or at a push a CF. However, Simeone's record in the transfer market is beyond bad, so we will have to see.

Wow they really signed him for that amount! Is he really that good? He better play like the next Messi for them.
