It's quite staggering when you stop to think about all the things Messi has achieved at just 27 years old. We get so used to him and the level he's playing at that it's easy to forget.

Most goals in a calendar year, La Ligas top scorer ever, La Ligas top assister ever, will retake the CL top scorer position again ( :pep: ), 4 balon d'Ors, first player to ever score consecutively against all La Liga teams, etc etc...

He has for sure created his own benchmark on which his performances are judged. If other players do a magical piece of play it gets hyped up because you're not used to seing it from them, but if Messi has a dribleraid of epic proportions and scores two goals as he did this weekend, the football world proceeds pretty much like before without much fuzz, it's just "more of Messi", all though to be fair that drible did get a lot of attention.

In fact many people, myself included, were a little disappointed that he didn't score a hattrick. DISAPPOINTED I TELL YOU! :coffee:

How long do you guys think Messi will keep playing at this level(don't mean this level as in Champions league football, but rather "this level" as in a goal and an assist per game with amazing dribbles and passes)?

Probably till 30-31 at least. After that maybe he will cool down a little and a goal after every 2-3 games and more of an assister then.

I think he might go through to 31 while shifting progressively to play maker which requires less explosivity from him, Win the 2018 WC and say goodbye bitches, i'm going home, and go play a few years for Newells Boys in Rosario.. would like this for him.

Thiago will join La Masia, Messi will stay in Barcelona and play until he's 36, then retire and become a part of the board of directors of Barca...

... and then go on to win the first ever director d'Or. :messi:

So much this.

Those few moments of magic were just jaw dropping. Unfortunately you're right to point out that it's practically taken for granted as "more of Messi". Ha, yeah if only he had of topped it off with a hat trick  There was a sitter wasn't there or at least the keeper saved it? Not sure. Oh well, good result and brilliant game by Messi.

Thiago will end up as a Lawyer. Because he'll then be 10x more awesome than every other human being and he'll then also be able to save his dad's ass when the tax authorities comes for him.
