Up there with CR7 for player of the tournament so far. That was a masterclass in how to play midfield today.

Modric as a CM and Rakitic as a AM, really great chemistry.
Probably the best midfield in the WC.

Basically he has the role that Iniesta/Xavi had in 2015. Modric and the their other mid (Brozovic??) cover a lot of the field and let him work his magic. Thus he is shining a lot more than he is at Barca.

MOTM for me yesterday and not Modric, though both played amazing. Hats off, he.s continuing the form he had with Barca this year. He really suits Croatia style. Hope they go into the finals.

Can he play AM, like Iniesta? Arthur is coming and his best position is CM. Rakitic can go forward more and Arthur can do the dirty work.

People indulging in a lot of revisionism. He never once had a game anywhere like this with us this year.

If he plays like this even in half the matches we won't have the midfield problem we have right now.

If we had few other players that cover space he covers then entire team plus Rakitic would look better.

Football is a team sport and we just got a bit too soft and slow over last few years.
