I see a lot of Arsenal fans really mad, but can you really blame him? He is not exactly young , only a few more chances to win anything in his career... u have to somewhat understand why he is leaving??

It's not the fact that he's leaving, but the fact that he publicly questioned Wenger and the club's ambition, and that he dropped the bomb without informing Arsenal, pretty much creating a media firestorm and wrecking summer plans. He was the captain, highest paid player, and face of the club, and in one letter burned all his bridges.

If City pay a fair price then I'm fine with that, £15 million is fair.

If arsenal don't buy big they won't get a CL place next season. No chance.

Not shocked that he's leaving although I do feel that 1 great season in 8 injury hit ones isn't enough. My problem is the statement he left. If he had released a statement on Arsenal.com saying "I've been here 8 years, want a new challenge abroad blah blah" then it wouldn't have been so bad but the statement he came out with was just bollocks.

Laying into the club and Wenger - the man who stuck by him through everything? Seriously, Robin? And then lying by claiming that Gazidis was on holiday when he isn't, that was a clear attempt to turn the fans against the board. He talks about his respect for Wenger yet releases a statement behind his back.

It's shit because I thought RvP was a proper gooner who got the club and was in touch with the fans - but he's not. That statement has made it impossible for him to stay another year at Arsenal and even to get a high fee for him. If its not about the money then why not hand in a transfer request and forfeit your loyalty bonus?

He'll win stuff if he goes to City and be on £225k-a-week but after all his comments slating City and claiming he only wants to win stuff with Arsenal, it's a bit hollow. That's the problem with modern day footballers, they always blame someone else for their failures. They rarely stand up and fight instead of taking the easy route out. The days of Tony Adams and Matt Le Tissier are gone.

He's ultimately been badly advised. It's no coincidence that the day after he says he wants out, Usmanov slates the Arsenal board. It's clear his adviser Darren Dein has convinced him into releasing that with his own interests at heart - he wants to help his father get back into the club.

I could say more, but I won't. Just really dissapointed in Robin and the lack of class he's shown. Cesc and even Nasri showed a lot more respect when they left.

Do you not think he may be doing it because he loves the club and doesn't want to see it stagnate?

I used to think so, but now we all know the truth. RVP only cares about himself.

How could we possibly be stagnating after signing two great strikers within the first month of the transfer window? The slimy fucker wants to join City, and knows this is the only way he can. We can't call ourselves a big club if we keep strengthening rivals, no matter how much they're worth. I wish we could just give him to Juventus for free so he isn't earning City 3 points every week

If he loved the club and didn't want to see it stagnate then he'd either stay or leave whilst behaving well and helping Arsenal get the best possible fee for him. He's done neither. In fact, he's tried to turn the fans against the club by lying about Gazidis and making Wenger sound like he has no ambition. He's also made it impossible for Arsenal to make him see out his contract or to get a really good fee for him. That is not belong the club. He released the statement because he's too stupid to realise what Darren Dein is trying to do. Usmamov's statement confirmed that.

I wouldn't call Podolski and Giroud "great"

Arsenal haven't made a "great" signing since Dennis Bergkamp (bar maybe Sol Campbell). Obviously Henry, Vieira, Pires etc turned out to be great signings but at the time, they weren't see as that.

But for me, they show ambition and I'm very happy with both particularly as I've seen a fair bit of Giroud and have been very impressed.

I see, I guess if he loved the club, he would have treated the situation much differently

I would advise Arsenal/Chelsea to swap RVP for Torres and I think both clubs would be better after that exchange. Torres fits in Arsenal's system better than in Chelsea's.

I would love to see RVP in Barca because he's just the player that we're missing. Tall, great finisher and can play on the wing or in the center. Unfortunetly we're not looking for a striker.
