I'm glad he isn't changing his mind. I don't think he was the long term answer for us, and the fact that he's hopefully leaving with a bit of positive momentum, that's good for everyone.

I just hope Laporta has been scouting in the background and not relying on xavi changing his mind + Marquez as backup..

I don't think it's a huge problem either. It doesn't matter much in the end if the club wins titles and goes far in CL with Xavi or with another manager. It only becomes a big problem if the next manager doesn't deliver these types of results very fast. Then of course shit is gonna hit the fan. The club demands these things all the time.

So... if you replace Xavi and don't get the next manager appointment spot on... not good. The path that needs to follow in the next season is up, not down.

Many things depend on who the next manager is and how good he's gonna be. If he deliver the titles, the results, and the football, as big of a legend as Xavi is, fans are going to move on from him very fast, support and trust the current manager, and enjoy the present. In a way it's very simple.

I am surprised people don’t want to see him stay quite honestly. Which of replacement candidates seem so much more appealing?

No, but serious question: Who do we want to take over?

But it is a worrying quote on how he believes that was the only way to get the locker room behind him.
The locker room was always behind him. The problem was, that the team couldn't live up to the pressure and crumbled as criticism mounted. After the announcement, the team got the "don't give a fuck attitude" and that helped them to play with a free mind. Also ter Stegen's return and as a result the overall improvement of the defense played a role. Especially Kounde's performance is like day and night with Pena or ter Stegen behind him.
We still don't play very well, but we stopped conceding easy goals and that's already job half done.

Good points. To be fair our xG has been high all season and we have had suspect refereeing calls in Spain.

Lewy also pulled his finger out and looks a player now.

I'm undecided right now, as I don't know which coaches will be actually available to us in the summer and how much Xavi learned from his mistakes this season. It's hard to have the right feeling right now. Let's wait a bit and look how far we'll come this season. Xavi will give his definite answer when the competition is over anyways.

You know very well which Coaches are avaiable. Its not Klopp, Ten haag, Nagglesman or Pep.
Its flick, Marquez, Tuchel and everybody else we been linked with.

What I am considering is that some of the coaches we could bring in might be more tactically adept, but these players have always stood behind xavi and respected him. You might still lose locker room or not be able to motivate them as much even when coach is tactically superior. So I see a small trade-off...but maybe overthinking...

I was open to this but a few colombian cule friends don't seem that excited. Going to inquire.

I got a feeling Flick is already agreed hence no rumours to other clubs. He was Laporta's first choice the first time round ahead of Naggelsmann and Tuchel iirc.

But if not Flick it will be Marquez or no one else to "continue the Xavi project".

I don't think he is better than Xavi btw but willing to be proven wrong.

Seems Naggingman is going back to Bayern btw. If there's no money to pay to sign a contracted manager, then he should have been first choice out of the free agents.

So far following rumours

Naggelsmann -> Bayern
Ruben Amorim -> Liverpool
Motta -> Juve
???? -> Barcelona
Klopp -> Sabbatical
Tuchel -> Jobstreet

Marquez because he knows the young players and will continue to develop them and it seems he's doing a good job at Barca B.

Developing the young players is not the main objective. That is winning big titles or at least competing until the final stretch of the season. The club and the press made it clear.

People want him to stay, he doesn't. We didn't sack him lol. :lol:

Ten Hag might be available, since if he misses CL spots he could get the sack. Nagelsmann was unlikely I agree, he is rated highly in Germany.
