Rijkaards Barca was not good in that last season, no doubt Pep improved them a lot.

That said, they still looked quite good against United, who were at their best that season, i still recall them more or less parking the bus in those games though.

Probably people here remember more about those matches.
Do remember those games like it was yesterday. A bit harsh to call it parking the bus because it's united not mou s real madrid. Having said that. They did played defensively. Barca were slightly better and we should have won the games especially the first leg. In the second leg we didn't create much despite Messi having a world class performance.

Maybe not a bus, but they did play defensively overall, its striking to me that, even United at their best played in a catious way against a sub-par Barcelona.

Though i guess its just a poor match-up for United, they never seem to enjoy playing you, while Chelsea has given you more of a fight.

This!
Barca was a nightmare for SAF's UTD even in their best versions.
They do not park the bus, but the football they play hugely mismatches tiki-taka or let's say in general precise possession football with many short passes and through the center.
The two finals, and the semis of 08 where Barca were better, are proof of that

On the contrary, they could easily sweep the likes of Chelsea of that time, which as you correctly said was the worst match for Barca (always a good bus that sits very deep and has fast and efficient attackers on the counter always gives the worst trouble to Barca)
Had Chelsea go through in that notorious return leg at Stamford Bridge with the Iniesta goal, UTD would have a walk in the park final against them (2nd in a row against a weakened version of that Chelsea) and would have won 2nd CL in a row

First round of League Cup and many big boys are out: Arsenal Spurs Chelsea
City Liverpool qualified, and let's see if UTD qualifies tomorrow

The clubs probably want to win it, but I'm sure the players of the knocked out teams are content with more rest during an already packed schedule.

Managers in the PL now

Guardiola
Klopp
Conte
Ten Hag
Arteta
Emery
Rodgers
Howe
Potter
De Zerbi
Lopetegui
Frank
Vieira
Moyes
Silva
Lampard
Cooper
Jones
O'Neil

Most stacked league ever with managers? Now there's talk of Bielsa replacing O'Neil at Bournemouth.

Said it a few days ago in the CL thread but I think City are weaker this year. Lost some crucial squad depth and they are now very Haaland reliant for goals.

Awful game by City.
In general, the last many games they are not so good.

subs today by Pep were bad as well: You can't keep Grealish and Mahrez at the bench when you need dribbling to break a deep block
