Lionel Messi - v7

Messi and Pep Guardiola spoke several times. The coach advised him to stay at FC Barcelona. Manchester City was clear that they only consider signing Messi for free, when the season ends. If he managed to leave now, City could not handle his wages and transfer fee. [Veronica Brunati]

Se Queda. :messi:

Welcome him back like the prodigal son.

No point holding it against him

Messi has been fined for missing training on Monday and Tuesday and will continue to be fined until he returns.

Tabloid headline: Pep tells Messi he is not worth paying for. City prefer to spend money on Nathan Ake.

Would be weird to wait a year to sign a 34 year old Messi when you could sign a 33 year old Messi.

Eric Garcia, Bernardo Silva, Gabriel + Money, or Messi stays then. Losing 3 salaries can compensate for Messi wage + Transfer Fee.

All parties coming out looking like tits atm.

Messi pretty clutch too though.

Ronaldo was a much better player in his younger years compared to himself later on, but won more CLs towards the end. That should say something.

Ronaldo was more of a clown in his early days and more efficient and clutch later.
Depends on what do you rate: a pure effectiveness or "fun to watch".

In the video you posted, there isn't a single CL KO match goal for Messi, right?

No offense, but can you name 1-2 goals in Messi's whole career where:
1. He scored for a win in the last 10 minutes of a KO match in a CL/World cup/Copa America
2. He scored for 1:1 or 2:2 in CL/World cup in the last 5-10 minutes in KO matches

You can't.

His matches are either 4:0 wins or 0:3 defeats.

It was 0:0 and he scored 2 goals at the Bernabeu for 2-0 W against Real Madrid in CL semi finals.

It was 0:0 and he scored 2 goals and 1 assists for 3-0 W against Bayern Munich in CL semi finals.

Why is this not considered clutch? It was a tie against elite teams in a CL semi final before he broke the deadlock...

In CR7's clutch 16/17 season, all the goals he scored v Bayern, AM, and Juve were while the teams were level or RM in the lead (correction except for 1st Bayern goal). In 13/14 all of CR7's goals v Bayern were when RM were 3-0 up and in the final he scored the 4th goal (penalty). He's more clutch than Messi in CL but my problem is you making it seem like Messi can't do anything when things are not in his favor.

Yep. She?s been as unreliable as it gets during this Messi saga.

People acted like she was close to him but at this point it looks like we can only rely on thar belcher guy for solid news.

As if Messi would do all this of Pep doesnt even fully vacks him.

This one today is probably right. City are preparing a 100+ million bid for Koulibaly. They can't fund Messi unless he comes for free, which Barto obviously won't allow. Messi is staying boys, mark my words. This was all just a game. And Barto will resign at the end of it. He promised - if Messi comes back, which he will, Barto is resigning.

2011
2015 at home

You have to admit that it is slightly weird:
1. iirc no KO goals for Argentina ever
2. 1 away KO goal in the last 5-6 seasons iirc for Barca
3. almost zero goals in dying minutes in Europe KO matches, for a win or for a draw, in his whole career

His style of play (dropping deep and being somewhat onedimensional in the last few years), Messipendencia where everyone knows whom we will pass the ball and his Jekyll&Hyde (home and away form) personality have lead to this.

Goat in La Liga
Goat at Camp Nou
Goat from 2008-2013
MIA in majority of KO away matches after 2012, especially after 2015

🗣[@verobrunati 🥇] | Messi and Pep spoke several times. Pep advised him to stay at Bar?a.

It is clear that his father considered him leaving for free at the end of the season. If he wants to leave now, the transfer could be tough.
