Lionel Messi - v7

This is going to be a dent in his legacy for sure. The only way he can rectify this is by winning a CL or WC title in his last 2-3 years now and performing well in that title.

You have to be naive not to believe so. This is the biggest trashing in CL history. No other player comparable to him had such a result.

Messi has a lot to think about the upcoming weeks. He either have to adapt to a new team or decide to leave. We cannot build the team around him and his 30+ friends anymore.

His legacy isn't GOAT. He's become a laughing stock.

true. 5 years of humiliation in europe where he had poor performances bar the liverpool game. people will remember that

think the narrative going forward will be that he couldn't accomplish in europe without xavi iniesta and alves

Well, it's true. For him and for all others of the modern era. You can add more to that list. Suarez, Neymar in 2015, Guardiola for his first 4 ballon d'ors. It's normal.

It's not a dent on his legacy at all, no player in history has played at such a high level at 33. Maradona was back in Argentina at 33 a shadow of a player but people remember his prime as they will with Messi and any other great.

Messi is not the problem, look at Muller with Bayern. Similar position but Muller is surrounded by fit, quick and dynamic players and he looks fantastic. If Messi had teammates like that we would be fine but we don't and that isn't his fault.

Messi is totally also the problem. Not even a doubt at this point. Muller works 3 times more than Messi on the field.

He should in the last 5 year single handedly won the CL 😂😂

All he needed is a competitive team and he will lead them to win big titles.... yesterday even if he scored 5 goals they will beat is 😂😂...

Anyway nothing will hurt hos legacy unless you are a hater a troll to think otherwise

The most disappointed in this period are the ones who believed Messi carried Barcelona. That myth has been busted big time. He didn't carry anything. Nobody did any carrying in our golden years. Everyone did their part.

He is just a player, and a very flawed one even at this age. We've created a myth which was disproportionate with reality and now the awakening is blunt. The lesson we "learned" for the nth time this year is that you can't build a team around past it veterans who can't run, Messi included.

It might not be a dent in his legacy in your eyes, but I bet you a lot of money it's viewed differently around the World.

His team just lost 8-2. He's the one who defended Valverde after Anfield. He has all the power in the world to shake things up in Barca, but he's been comfortable around a manager that allowed him and his buddies to do whatever they wanted.

He's played his part in this shameful defeat.

Messi is a much better player than Muller and provides more in a much worse team. Put Messi in the Bayern team they would be pretty much unbeatable.

There?s nothing wrong in saying he needed players around him, who doesn?t?! Ronaldo had Modric, Kroos, Ramos etc. Milan had Kaka, Pirlo, Nesta, Shevchenko. Ajax had Kluivert, Seedorf, David?s etc. Bayern has Kimmich, Miller, Thiago, Lewandoski.

It doesn?t matter who you are, football is a TEAM sport, for how utterly brilliant Messi is, he?s been massively let down by the quality of the squad around him and you cannot expect him to do it all alone at 33. He needs to be held accountable though for his work rate and leadership. Because when the going gets tough, his head had dropped immediately. That is simply not good enough.

No it hasn't, it's the opposite, the fact that he carried Barca is more evident now than ever.

Dude you are really annoying. Have a bit of respect towards the biggest player in history and a guy who provided us with so much joy during the last 15 years! He is the main reason we won all those titles during the last decade. I agree it's time to rebuild but Messi should always be respected by our fans. He deserved that FFS!

If anything, yesterday showed how much Messi has been papering over the cracks the last few seasons with such an inept board and a large part of the squad lacking in quality

The game last night was over after 30 minutes, all because of defensive mistakes, nothing he could have done yesterday would have changed anything i feel.
