There is no point in changing the coach next season while Bartomeu is still here. He should stay until Xavi comes. I think Setien can squeeze out a La Liga with the current squad + a few reinforcements.

Yea, we should not go through another manager until rebuild. It's too much. Keep Setien until we find a board and a new manager to really change things.

What if he wins next 6 games but gets blown out in the CL SF by say Bayern Munich?

I think he will survive defeat, but not any embarrassment.
I doubt the board want to go in search for a new manager, and Setien will get the benefit of the doubt.

Imo, there is no way that Setien wins La liga next season.
We will play even worse than season, players will be older and relations with a coach are ruined.

Seriousy? If Madrid fail to reach at least 80 points we will win it almost by default. It's been known to happen with Madrid, having crap seasons in La Liga after winning it the year before.
There are many ways you can win a league, and not all of them involve playing great football. Some ref decisions here and there, some inconsistency from the rival, some great form by Messi (like that period when he was scoring freekicks every other game almost) and so on.
It's very possible Setien will win the league if he accepts the veterans rule the team, and if the amigos are more motivated than this season. We lost many dumb points this season and with all those mistakes, without the referee errors of late, we'd still be in with real chances to win the title.

I would agree with this assessment if I was confident Madrid could keep up a 90 point pace next season, but they could also very easily implode without some good attacking reinforcements. Cannot win matches 1-0 forever. They will likely finish the season with fewer than 70 GF. That is horrific for a title winner and barely more than they had last season. Even Atleti had 77 goals scored in 13/14 when they won the title.

So, RM or Atletico won't need 90 or 100 points.
But closer to 82 or 85.
Messi's impact will be weaker.
Suarez will be even worse.
Midfield also.
Imo, our numbers of goals scored will fall down even more.

Doubt it. The team is not completely finished yet, and I mean the veterans mostly, because they run things. They have 1 more top season imo. And next season they will be more motivated.
I think we'll do better than this season. Over 85-87 points. If Madrid improve as well, and have a great season, there's a good chance they'll repeat the title. But if they drop their level and their defense is not as good, we can win the title.
Maybe if this happens, Setien staying and winning La Liga in a very Valverde way with an even older team (with a mediocre Madrid), you'll reconsider your position. Think about it, there's no other team capable of winning the title except Madrid or Barcelona. If Madrid fuck it up, we're almost guaranteed to win the title in Messi era, no matter who is the manager.

Actually there’s no guarantees of anything with Barca. Can’t say we’ll definitely flop next season or win trophies. Think about 07/08 season followed by 08/09. Then 13/14 followed by 14/15. Change of manager and a couple of signings can change everything. There was same doom and gloom in here about Madrid winning La Liga for years on here and they’ve won 3 in 11 years....

Yea, but we haven't had 2 back to back bad season in a lot of time. In about 15 years. So, if we win nothing big next season, it's almost sure that the veterans need replacing. So, I think there will be a strong desire to prove people wrong and win the title again. Especially from Messi and Suarez, since they run things at the team.
Right now, it seems Setien and his staff have backed down, and accepted Messi and Suarez as the top dogs in the team. They will keep quiet and mold the team around them, not around their ideals. This will put pressure on Messi and Suarez to show us that they still have it. Or else, their superpowers at the team will be done with.
I really feel next season will be a La Liga/CL or true rebuild in 2021. It's not that bad of a position. I can be happy with either scenario.
