OMG so many midgets are all-time greats. Not sure how long are you following football but you are so wrong about it.

My list of top five all-time greats below 170>

1. Messi
2. Maradona
3. Garrincha
4. Xavi
5. Romario

Now try to find all times greats above 182 or 6 feet, not many actually.

From your past posts, it seems you have an issue with small physiques and/or youngsters/unproven new players. Give it up!

Messi and Maradona- Two all time legends of the game whose dribbling style has been impossible for anyone to match.

Garincha- Most definitely weighed a lot more than 120 lbs.

Xavi- Midfielder who was great largely because he didn't need to do any of the fancy dribbles that has so many people obsessed with Riqui.

Romario- Another player who definitely weighed more than most women.

You see, the problem is a combination of Riqui's height and weight. He's basically a small child. I actually don't have a problem with young or unproven players at all, I am well known for supporting Alena and Fati and numerous talents from the B team who have actively flopped, and there was a time when I was among the only 2 or 3 people who felt like Mats even belonged at Barca when he was the unproven one and Bravo was the amazingly talented veteran.

But facts are facts my man, the kid is soft. If he's really done growing at 5'6 (Fucking lol) then he's going to have to pack on some muscle or just go hang out with Suarez, because he desperately needs to put some pounds on if he wants to succeed.

Did you notice that you have listed their skills and why they are goat despite the height and weight disadvantage? Why can't you do the same for Riqui? The kid is obviously talented hence so many of us think he can make it.

All those whom I listed weighted light in their 18-20 years old, please don't compare Riqui to mature Messi or Xavi. The only exception was Maradona who looked thick even during his Boca Junior's days.

MATS was one of the best keepers in Bundesliga before moving to Barcelona so you supported an established player, not raw talent. I rate Riqui above Alena, and I still think Alena would have been a good rotation player, but this club has no patience and I bet you if Fati didn't score a goal in his debut match, he would have been sent back to Barca B for good. I think he even surprised EV who played him out of the necessity of shortage upfront.

1. wingers need less height than some other positions
2. average height has gone up from 5-10cm in the last 70-80 years and a boom is even greater in the last 10-20 years
https://ourworldindata.org/human-height
So, 170 cm from a player in 60s is like 177-178 in 2020'
So, Riki with 169-170 is actually like a player with 163-164 in 60s, not like a guy who was 170 in 60s.
3. regarding all time greats:

187 Cr7
186 Rivaldo
186 Kaka
185 Zidane
184 Weah
183 R9 Ronaldo
183 Shevchenko
181 Ronaldinho
181 Sammer
180 Figo

177 Nedved
175 Cannavaro
173 Owen
172 Modric
170 Messi

Ballon D Or winner in the last 25 years: 10 vs 5.
Btw, you also have to calculate that Rivaldo and Zidane were born in 1972.
Since then, the average height has gone up by 3-4 cm.
So, Rivaldo would be around 189-190 cm today, Zidane 188-189.
Not to mention that Van Basten, Gullit and Rijkaard from Milan in early 90s would be around 193-194 cm today (they were 190cm even in late 80s).

Then imagine a theoretical Milan:Barca match in 2022 with these two young players:
Rijkaard with 193-194cm today, and with these muscles:

Vs Riki Puig, 170 cm, lightweight:

Which team would probably lose 0:4?
A really tough question...

Puig is too small and doesnt have the type of ability to make up for it.

In B team he more or less plays a free role and not one that is there in first team.

He needs to go on loan but even then cant really see any team in a top league taking him on.

The game he came on and played quite well he got that free role more or less as they were down to ten men.

The question about Puig isn't his height but his near complete lack of other extraordinary attributes to compensate for that height.

Plenty of genius players have been short in stature. But all have been strong (for their height), and had extraordinary football IQ/technical ability. Puig doesn't.

So, I'm not sure what that Rijkaard v Puig thing is supposed to prove. Even if Rijkaard was Puig's height and build, he'd have 100 times the football IQ so it's still not even a comparison.

Because Riqui's skills do not outweigh his size disadvantage. From a dribbling standpoint he's good, but nowhere near that Messi/Maradona class that overrules his poor strength, and from a passing and goal scoring perspective... he's light years away from being like any of those players listed.

All those whom I listed weighted light in their 18-20 years old, please don't compare Riqui to mature Messi or Xavi. The only exception was Maradona who looked thick even during his Boca Junior's days.

Messi is a freak nobody can be compared to, and Xavi's playstyle is so dramatically different from Riqui's that it's almost laughable that you keep mentioning him. I wasn't even born yet when some of those players were 18-20 years old (Romario is 54 and I'm, like, not) so I can't really speak on their size in those times, but I can say that the competition they faced in those times was almost certainly different and had less emphasis on size and strength.

MATS was one of the best keepers in Bundesliga before moving to Barcelona so you supported an established player, not raw talent.

Lol. Deulofeu. Rafinha. Roberto. Thiago. Munir. Adama. Alena. Samper. Miranda. Montoya. Tello. The list of "Raw talent" I've thrown my weight behind goes on and on... and almost every time I've been wrong.

I rate Riqui above Alena, and I still think Alena would have been a good rotation player, but this club has no patience and I bet you if Fati didn't score a goal in his debut match, he would have been sent back to Barca B for good. I think he even surprised EV who played him out of the necessity of shortage upfront.

Imagine thinking Riqui is some kind of legend in the making despite his size but thinking Alena, the player able to actually shield the ball, is just good enough for rotation.

I try really hard not to drink the BBZ koolaid but you guys make it hard not to with this kind of fanaticism. The kid is soft. All he's got to do is start downing his protein and hitting the gym.

I'm also of the opinion that he weighs too little, especially for a central midfielder.

The question is though, how much of his strengths is he going to lose if he gains weight? He's quick and agile and his technique relies on that as he isn't very fast. If he all of a sudden puts on a whole lot of weight, without letting his mind adapt to it, he'll be a very different kind of footballer. Unless the weight gain is spread out over a longer period, which probably would mean loan after loan.

Bale bulked up a lot at Madrid only to look like a cow on steroids who couldn't dominate the same way he used to do at Spurs.

Billy Gilmour, by the way, is two years younger and weighs 5 kg more, while also being shorter.

Let me ask you a question. What's footballing IQ? This term has been passed around this forum ever since a poster here used it to discredit certain players. From then everyone starts to apply this term on players they don't like/care about. What's funny though, in this same thread, people liked Puig because of his footballing IQ.

For me when you say the player football IQ is high it means this player has the ability to find space and time even if he was under pressure. Make the right pass at the right time, scanning abilities aka Vision is seeing a move or pass that many others on the field don't see. Players might be injury-prone, out of form, lacks muscle and heights but they are still among the best when taking into account the above factors.

This is actually why I like Riqui and why people compare him to the young Iniesta who probably has the highest footballing IQ in the last decade along with Xavi. If you didn't watch Puig much, I advise watching him play, how he moves, how he passes the ball intelligently. If you didn't pay attention to him when he played, you can watch it on youtube. Almost every video on youtube about Puig would be titled something like this "magical passes & skills".

You actually criticized Riqui's best merit which I find it so funny.

Just one thing though, I said find me players above 182. You included a list of players mostly shorter than that. Only CR7, R9 and Zidane I would consider all-time greats.

The rest are generation best (not all of them)

Are the 56kg actually correct? If so that's really extremely light weighted. Idk why that wouldn't be addressed at some point during his days at the youth teams, he's 20 and not 14.
