I think this Madrid would be running away with the title if they still had Cristiano. They are not as dire on a fundamental level as they used to be, but simply don't have the goals in them. It seems like they drop points more often than not when they fail to keep a clean sheet.

Not sure Mbappe will be as prolific as advertised, but he's one of the best on the market right now, especially for his age and Madrid seem adamant on going for him.

CR7 in the league would make Messi step up his game even more, like in the past. We had/have the better weapon for the league. They had the better weapon for CL KO away games.

if Madrid get both Haaland and Mbappe we are fucked.

We won't go anywhere near Raiola any time soon. Mbappe is pretty much a lock, but Haaland has to show serious regularity and repetitive European football form. Elsewise they won't consider him a good enough option to invest 50-80M in to succeed Benzema.

Yeah, I believe you guys have a worse relationship with Raiola than even Barca.

I always felt like Real Madrid were buying time or simply acting like they were interested in Pogba to appease Zidane.

I dunno, it always felt like it was on the cards until Fede became an obvious quality option. Even now the questions will come back, because it's only our 2nd loss of the season and comes on the back of midfield and attack issues. Fede has been quite average since Supercopa, but talent is obviously there, rated even by Zidane. Question is whether it will be enough to sway officials to actually sit down with Raiola who will no doubt want 20-30M for himself, which is ridiculous.

No chance we're sitting down to talk about Haaland when his value is only going up and not until it's 100% certain he's a return on the massive investment.

Don’t get ahead of ourselves. El Clasico aside, we have Sevilla and Villarreal away which will be guaranteed to see us drop points, also away at Celta too.

Nice to have a 2-point buffer now.

Real Madrid doesn’t need Mbappe and Haaland to fuck us, they just need Messi to leave to fuck us. We are already so behind them in terms of the next generation of players. They have multiple gems in multiple positions, who do we have?

Yes, but things can change pretty fast. One great transfer window and we can look drastically different.

Who are these gems aside from Fede and Mendy? And neither is even close to the level of prime Modric or Marcelo.

Calm down.

Arthur and De Jong are better than Valverde and Reinier. Fati is not worse than Rodrygo or Vinicius. We’ll have Trincao soon. They will have Odegaard, Hakimi and Kubo coming back at some point though, that’s true. Still, a couple of shrewd transfers and we’d be able to match them in young talent.

and that is the beauty of football. Never enough and nothing is guaranteed. Madrid have a quality squad, but they, just like us, refuse to let go of the old ones. Why Mendy did not start? Valverde?

We have neither the money nor the foresight and business acumen required to make great transfers that are investments for the future, either under a Bartomeu, Rousaud or a Font presidency.
