Antoine Griezmann

He is a finisher, why use him on the wings where he cannot trive lacking speed and proper technique for a wing player?

Because he has no other qualities of a centre forward (holdup, presence etc)? But right now hes probably our best choice (or Messi, Im undecided).

He's better suited for a central role behind the 9 or even as a 9 than as a winger. Messi should play on the right and him in the center. He's a total waste on the wing.

Again, 2nd striker doesnt exist in our system and hes not a real striker. Hes just as wasted there as he is on the wing. His one redeeming quality is that hes actually a worldclass footballer (in contrast to Coutinho, Dembele), so he will have his moments. But he will neither lead the line effectively or play amazing on the wings.

The question is what happens next season when we hopefully get a worldclass 9. Hes stuck on the right? Heck, even Valverde preferred Dembele there (and benched Griezmann) against Dortmund (our match of the season at that point).

So the forum also wants to waste Messi on the wings when he is not comfortable there and needs to free roam.

To be fair, this is Ibiza. He always score a little here and there but this hardly mean anything.

Last time I checked he got praised scoring against lower tier team but had several quiet performances thereafter. And when he doesnt have goals, people constantly praise his workrate, despite not providing anything offensively.

Everyone knows he is a central player. But Messi is a central player as well. How hard is it to understand that? Even Setien had to place Griezmann beside Messi because they cant coexist centrally together. If they roam together there is no one making runs and one of them has to do it. And people expect Messi to do it at his age? It's gonna tire him out really quickly.

He is a 120 million well developed player. He is gonna score here and there and probably against weaker teams. But honestly we will never reach the best potential we had previously no matter how hard we try to make him "adapt" or force Messi to compromise on his ability.

We will never win a CL with Griezmann and Messi not complementing each other on the frontline. They are wasting each others abilities. And since everyone keep saying he a is central player, this begs the question: Why did he come to Barca?

Agreed. He was never ever suited for Barca, can't accept the stupidity of his signing, not even now. They probably thought he is a very good acquisition being a proven La Liga attacker

Especially now it looks stupid because we bought Dembele and Coutinho as well.

It's funny how people still give him the benefit of the doubt and call for more time for him to settle. He is a worldclass player that's been playing in La Liga for years. He knows the language, is used to the lifestyle/climate. I'm sure he knew the players, the club and style of play before joining. Is half a season not enough for a player like him to shine?
Heck, I would have wanted even more from him when you consider he has better colleagues at Barca and doesn't have to defend as much as in Simeone's team. Imagine swapping those donkeys Costa and Morata, for Messi.

Well on course towards scoring 20+ goals and 10+ assists in his first season at Barca.

Incredible signing. Franchise player.

Everyday I'm grateful we signed him.

He had to run for Suárez and Messi, so saying he doesn't have to defend as much as under Simeone is an understatement. He gets played out of position so you can't expect him to perform at his usual level. It doesn't work like that.

Villa and Henry both were right-footed, that's why they worked better as LW than Griezmann. They've also played in a better team with clear tactics.

Then being told to pass it to him every chance you get.

Yeah, poor Antoine. Made to play second fiddle to the GOAT. Even when most of the time it is Messi who is trying to set him up so that he doesn't look like the greatest flop ever. Overrated French prima dona
