21 - Frenkie de Jong

Horatio

You're welcome
Not sure if he was invisible. Ran into space a lot of times contributing to Barca breaking the final two lines. When Raki came on we were missing a player between those lines to pass to. With Frenkie it seems it’s easier for us to move forward.

Does little to nothing. takes the safe option 19 out of 20 times. With the pace he has when running with the ball it’s a shame he never use it.

Barçapocalypse NOW!
What else is he supposed to do when the rest of the team just stands around and watch? Not his best game, but not his fault we are so dreadful...

Spot on , always looks a better player going forward , but seems to take the easy sideways pass most of the game.

Whether this is down to him or this manager who knows.

I think he will come good.

I'm not going to be too hash on him this season and want to see what he can do under another manager. This is a legitimate talent we have on our hands here. There is no reason for me to judge the lad like he's some other Alena or Puig.

He might come good if he gets to play in Busi’s place. But that doesn’t seem likely to happen as long as Valverde is still in the job.

He is not an expert in delivering key passes, but he can be excellent at conducting the ball. Plays conservatively because we have no real direction and attacking intent with EV as a coach. Would judge him from the next season with a new manager.

His best quality is turning and going past his marker, usually an offensive player, when playing as a DM. That way he forces our opponents to leave the marking on one of our other players and we logically get more space. This quality will never be of the same use when he plays in another position.

His play style suits a Barca team of years gone by, not this current slow-paced game they are playing. Numerous times this season I've witnessed him attempt quick triangles and one-twos and it's broken down.

He's a system player, if the system suits him he's superb e.g Ajax and Netherlands. I am convinced with the right manager he will be a gem.

With the right manager and 10 new players.
I don't see how any manager will turn this bunch of players into a team who will play both: beautiful and successful football ever again.

Unless, again, if we can somehow hire this guy who will make our players younger, faster and motivated:

** A simple test: from now on, you guys should estimate our: play in terms of being eye pleasing and results, each new Month.
On larger samples, we will play uglier and uglier and have weaker results and sink even deeper each new Month.

A manager with more personality, vision and courage would have over seen and demanded the transition and managed phasing these 30+ players who aren't up to the standard of competing at the highest level for over 50 games a season. A real board would have also realised it needed. Unfortunately, we have a yes man who spends have his time squatting like he's analysing the game yet when it comes to substitutions quickly dismissing any premonition that he possesses any in game management by making the same generic subs over and over again.

Bartomeu's regime has ridden on the coat tails of the Pep era, where the core of that squad was behind the success of course with the inclusion of Alves, Xavi and Iniesta which were always going to be irreplaceable but Barca have made some pathetic attempts at it anyway. Rather than phasing these over-the-hill players out, they remain vital to the starting 11 meaning at some stage the entire core will be replaced at once.

People aren't expected THIS group of players to play fast, eye pleasing football. We are disgruntled at the piss-poor lack of management and direction that has lead the club to still be relying on them. Whilst simultaneously expecting young players to step up to the mark, when management and the seniors underwhelm time and time again.

Poor you, thinking a new manager will be here next season. Bartomeu is already guaranteed to go down as the worst president of the club in history, so why not keep his perfect yes man for the last year too? I think an extension has always been on the table, they're just waiting for a big win to announce it. Would probably happen as early as next week if we'd have won the Supercopa, glad that Atletico managed to ruin that. I would be shocked if Valverde isn't here next season, while him actually getting fired before the end of this one is almost impossible.

Watching him at the stadium was joy. He is pure class and elegance, the most entertaining player to watch live other than Messi
