3 - Gerard Pique

No one is questioning what he does to set up the remainder of his life if it doesn't come at the expense of Barcelona's interests.

He openly admits to only getting 4-5 hours of sleep REGULARLY (directly because of those other interests) and this figure is well outside the norm or any sort of rational decision making. If he'd said something like "I have the occasional 4-5 hours" we would be more forgiving. At the end of the day, he's a highly paid employee of FC Barcelona and he has to put Barcelona's interests above his own for the moment. Or at least make a wise compromise between the two.

To dress this up in non football terms, imagine your employer who is let's say paying you 6 figures (considerably less than what FC Barcelona is paying Pique) and you OPENLY tell them that you show up to their workplace on 4-5 hours sleep a night because you're too busy setting up side-gigs/rest of your life. You'd be shown the door within the day by any self-respecting employer. Just because this guy is a footballer doesn't make this situation different. In fact, he's compensated on the order of millions. There should be even less tolerance for this behavior.

To at your example

I make 6 figures, I regularly only her 4-5 hours of sleep per night, I got to bed at 12 wake up around 4:30 for work,my directors know this.

I still have a job & they have no issues with it,why? because it doesn't affect my performance at work, much in the same way, it doesn't affect pique's.

there's 1 thing missing...you telling your employers about how much time you invest in side activties/businesses. is that true also?

and I don't buy that it doesn't affect his performance. he and lenglet (who for the record is just not starting quality) have been a disaster for some time now. we can't even keep clean sheets at home.

Can't really compare regular jobs to Piqué's. Most jobs require you to do your job and that's it, if you're extra ambitious then it's a bonus.

In Piqué's case, or any footballer's at a top team, the fans and the club always demand that the players to strive to become the world's best. To do that one needs a good basis, be it diet or sleep.

Piqué had one of his greatest seasons 2018/19, before that he was pretty average, today he's pretty average again. His problem has always been his concentration.

If he has lost the desire to play football he should take a look at Vela who sees football as a job and thus has no problem to play in an inferior league like MLS just to be able to watch basketball in LA or whatever sport he enjoys more.

Yea they know I have my side hustles & will only ever work 1 shift that fits them in, but again as long as I show up & do my job they have no issue

average before 2018/19 season? no.

You're welcome
I actually think Pique plays better this season so far than some of the seasons before 18/19.

Granted he is been playing under his usual level this season, but some of the season stars he had were horrendous.

He hasn’t made those big errors so far this season but he seems to lack passion.

The start of the last season was bad.

He was getting regularly folded like a lawn chair a term messi2140 came up with and it took him forever to get going.

Don't think he is that bad this season.. Amongst the best 5 performers.. Although that's hardly an achievement with this team. Lenglet is a liability.

I think everything that has to be said has been said.

However this fucker has ZERO RESPECT for the club and its fans. This has obviously been going on for a long time. I can't wait to get rid of the seniors bar Messi. We are already the joke of Europe and now waiting for a third consecutive humiliation in cl.

This guy is everything that is wrong with the world. An entitled prick who thinks the club is his personal play thing.

He should NEVER, EVER BE PRESIDENT. Fuck you Pique.

now that's a little bit over the top, isn't it. lol :p

As long as he is performing on the pitch and meeting all contract obligations then I don't care how much sleep he is getting. But if he is getting favourable conditions compared to other players then we have a problem.

On a slight note, I wonder what kind of terms we have set for our players.

At Barca, EV probably pays a fine to the Club De Amigos if one of them isn't played.

Piqué: "I have become an insensitive person over the years. Let each one think what he or she wants. They do not know me personally."

Piqué: "Klopp seems like a great guy. Mou, despite the rivalry we had, as a person I like him."

Piqué: "I was not invited to Ramos' wedding, but it's ok. I have invited him to the Davis Cup. There is no anger."

Piqué: "The day I don't feel like playing football anymore, I will retire. I don't feel obligated to anything. I decided that my cycle with the national team was over."

Piqué: "That I get more yellow cards this season is a coincidence."

Piqué: "To perform at a club like Barcelona you have to be among the top three players in your position. I've been at Barça for 12 years and I'm still here"

Piqué: "The coach tries to express his ideas, sometimes it goes well and sometimes it doesn't. Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid played for Griezmann. At Barça we don't play for him specifically. He has a lot of talent and quality."

Piqué: "A very abnormal thing is that people think that we, football players, should not give their opinions. We vote like everyone else and we can say what we want."

I'm strongly opposed to using such rigid methods of punishment but #11 is interesting, right demele and umtiti?
