According to Sport Giga Popescu has confirmed Viitorul has received Barça's offer for Hagi.

According to Romanian media our offer is around 10M and we want to send Hagi on loan. Ronaldo wants him badly so we are apparently already discussing about a loan possibility with Valladolid if we sign him.

That's a good deal.

Valladolid is his actual level. Don't know why Barcelona would pay 10mil for him, other than some money laundering scheme a la Douglas

€10 million today is the equivalent of some €4-5 million 10 years ago. Our revenue has grown 50-60% in that time period if I recall.

Nevertheless not exactly pocket money for a footballer who has no immediate future at the club.

Never seen him even once but when Romanians here and elsewhere are saying that Barça is not his level, I trust them, as they have no interest in underrating or badmouthing a countryman.

On the other hand he is still young (20) and could theoretically reach the desired level. What are our Romanian friends saying here in this regard?

Is he worth taking a gamble on and what is his ceiling potential wise? Could he make it for Barça?

Yeah, kind of a luxury player in today's football. Needs a team build around him. Basically like his father but not that talented. Hagi Senior was also a player that needed a team built around him. I think that's why he didn't succeed at Real/Barça.
Also, like many other current romanian players, Ianis seems to not have the mental strength to play for a club as big as Barcelona. My opinion is that he should target a mid-table team from Spain or some top of the table team from Holland, Belgium, Portugal or Turkey.
Talent wise I don't think he is above the likes of Denis or Rafinha

Overhyped just because his last name is Hagi. He's a decent talent but he doesn't have any future here. He's just not good enough and won't ever be. His best position(clasic 10) is almost obsolete these days. We're jusy throwing money out the window if we buy him for 10m. Just keep the damn money and spend it on players that might have a future with us.

Can't wait for Dortmund or Ajax to buy him and then people wanting us to pay 80M in a few years and blame our stupid board for not buying him when he was cheap.

Nah dawg.

I see him being better for Barca than Andre Gomes ever was but that's not saying much. I do dream of the day that a romanian player would play for Barcelona , be it even only 1 game.

The approach i see from the club is , buy him , loan him , hope he does well , sell him for profit.

He really did have a good u21 tourney with Romania , making it to the semis.

With the track record Romanian players have at succeeding in Europe he might as well be shite, like Gomes. Also, Gomes was/is a good player for Valencia/Everton. Ianis had a chance with Fiorentina and he flopped.
U21 tournament doesn't say much really. Jovic had a shite tournament, after an excellent season with Frankfurt. Many of the players present had CL, EL, Premier League, La Liga experience but didn't shine. Ianis should just find a club of his level.

Doubtful that he'll be able to make it to Dortmunds level. He might become decent for Ajax. Zyech current level at best though which is not enough for us today and won't ever be.

Do you even know anything about his current level or how he plays besides a bunch of under 21 matches?

Lmao at 80m.

Mate look who you are arguing against. If Barcelona were to literally buy a bag of unadulterated shit for 5M. He will find reasons why it's such a good deal , while everyone can see that Barca bought a bag of shit. Just look in the KPB thread.
