"Look this is what happens when a coach doesn't coach when a coach relies on his players natural abilities and talents. When he tells them to go out there and do what they do. As amazing and world class as these players are they need guidance and leadership. They need a coach not a fan boy. "

Puyol u beauty.

Messi and his friends has to stop already. It isnt working since years. Barcelona is bigger then the players and Im sure Leo understand this after this season.

Basically we need someone who will do a Pep and send some guys packing during the first meeting.

Someone, who walks into a room and says Philippe and Ivan pack your bags and find a new club, I don't count on you. Gerard, Luis and Sergio, you are on the bench now. If you don't agree, you are getting sold. No friendships and arse licking, just straight business.

True. Ass kissing needs to stop and something has to be done. Fire Valverde and get rid of some of these old vets.

Regardless of EV, a thing to consider for a new coach:

Barcelona 2006 team from a CL final:
Gio 31
---------------------
Van Bommel 29
Guily 28
Puyol 28
Edmilson 28
Deco 27
Marquez 27
Ronaldinho 26
Oleguer 26
Etoo 25
= average 27,5 years

Barcelona 2009 final:
Sylvinho 35
Henry 32
Puyol 31
-------------
Xavi 29
Etoo 28
Yaya 26
Iniesta 25
Messi 22
Pique 22
Busi 21
= average 27,1 years

Barcelona 2011 final:
Abidal 32
Xavi 31
Villa 30
---------------
Alves 28
Iniesta 27
Busi 23
Masch 27
Messi 24
Pedro 24
Pique 24
= average age 27,0 years

Barcelona 2015' final:
Alves 32
Masch 31
Iniesta 31
-------------
Pique 28
Messi 28
Suarez 28
Rakitic 27
Busi 27
Alba 26
Neymar 23
= average age 28,1 years

Barcelona against Liverpool:
Messi 32
Suarez 32
Vidal 32
Pique 32
Rakitic 31
Busi 31
Alba 30
-----------
Coutinho 27
Roberto 27
Lenglet 24
= average age: 29,8 years

Or:
Number of CL trophies among starters+squad players won BEFORE a specific final:
2006: only Deco had 1 CL trophy.
= so, a whole team had 1 individual CL trophy won before 2006'.
2009: Messi 1, Etoo 1, Xavi 1, Iniesta 1, Puyol 1, Valdes 1
= 6 individual CL trophies won before 2009.
2011: Messi 2, Xavi 2, Iniesta 2, Puyol 2, Valdes 2, Busi 1, Pique 1, Alves 1, Abidal 1, Pedro 1
= 15 individual CL trophies won
2015: Messi 3, Iniesta 3, Busi 2, Alves 2, Pique 2, Masch 1 (Xavi 3, Pedro 2)
= 18 individual CL trophies won
2019: Messi 4, Busi 3, Pique 3, Suarez 1, Rakitic 1, Alba 1, Roberto 1, Mats 1
= 15 individual CL trophies won

Just for a comparison:
Liverpool's team yesterday:
Milner 33
-------------
Henderson 29
Van Dijk 28
Matip 28
Shaqiri 28
Mane 27
Fabinho 26
Robertson 25
Origi 24
Alexander 21
= average age 26,9

In short:
A current Barca is the oldest Barca's team ever.
And we have the very high amount of individual CL won by players (weaker motivation).
Also, Barca never had more than 3 players older than 30 among starters during our winning seasons.
Yet, yesterday, out of 10 field players, 7 players were older than 30. AC Milan incoming...

Barcelona vs Liverpool yesterday:
Age: 29,8 vs 26,9 (pace, stamina, distance covered)
CL trophies won: 15 vs 0 (motivation)

People often say that players don't lose motivation after too many trophies won.
Did you check a body language and a spark in the eye by Busquets/Pique/Suarez vs for example: Firmino/Mane/Henderson etc?

When Rijkaard won a CL in 2006, only Deco had won 1 CL before 2006' with Porto.
When Pep took over, in his team nobody had more than 1 CL won (Messi 1, Xavi 1, Iniesta 1, Puyol 1, Etoo 1, Valdes 1).

Current Barca and Real are probably the most complacent teams in a history of a CL.
And the only way is to turn the page and start with hungrier players.

Many of us have been saying this for years not this is only with EV.

I'm actually quite surprised that EV fanboys are surprised with the way things ended.

Anyway, we need more criticisms from past legends for this board to wake up.

RIP Cruyff, he would have slaughtered Valverde and the board.

I would like to see next season

A Bielsa or Pep desiple like Erik ten Hag as head coach

Core players: MATS, Semedo, de Ligt, Lenglet, Alba, de Jong, Arthur, Alena, Riqui Puig, Vidal, Messi, Dembele, Malcom.

Bench: Pique, Busquets, Umtiti, Roberto

Buy: Striker to replace Suarez, de Ligt
Sell: Suarez, Raki, Coutinho

True. But first we need to get some very important decisions spot on.

Next manager has to be a cut above the mediocre-ness we had post Pep. That is the most important thing. The base of everything else.

You build from there.

EnjoyBlanc

2. Give him full control over the squad.

Here is the problem, managers need a certain level of control, sporting director along scouting department need another role.
Managers can't play both, if you do it you end up with a managers thinking signing Ibra/Chygrynskiy/Vidal/Arda is a good idea.
This worked in Barca between 2003 & 2008, until Pep pushed what he wanted and then next board gave him middle finger. Only re-established in 2014 temporarily

This is what I call a sporting project. If you fail to have this it doesn't matter which manager you pick. He would never be able to do it all by himself.

It was not only Pep.
Rijkaard has done the same in 2003'.
That is the only way to turn the page and to remove bad habits and loser's atmosphere.

Our team in 2002-03 was:
Gk: Bonano, Enke, Valdes
Defenders: Reiziger, Frank De Boer, Andersson, Puyol, Christanval, Sorin, Oleguer
Midfielders: Xavi, Cocu, Riquelme, Gerard, Rochemback, Mendieta, Lucho, Gabri, Motta, Iniesta
Forwards: Kluivert, Saviola, Dani Garcia

Who was forced to leave:
Gks:
Kept: Valdes
Sold: Bonano, Enke

Defense:
Kept: Reiziger, Puyol, Oleguer
Sold: Frank De Boer, Andersson, Christanval, Sorin

Midfield:
Kept: Xavi, Cocu, Gerard, Lucho, Motta, Iniesta, Gabri
Sold: Mendieta, Rochemback, Riquelme

Attack:
Kept: Kluivert, Saviola
Sold: Dani Garcia

So, out of 23 players who played in a season 2002/03, Rijkaard sold 10 players RIGHT AWAY.
And out of 13 players whom he kept from a previous team, after the first season, he sold also Reiziger, Cocu, Lucho, Kluivert, Saviola.

So, out of 23 players with loser's mentality from 2002/03, 12 Months later, Rijkaard sold 10+5 of them.
And in the end kept only 8 players from a previous era:
Valdes aged 21, Xavi 23, Iniesta 19, Puyol 25, Oleguer 23, Motta 21, Gabri 24, Gerard Lopez 24

Those players were young, hungry and motivated.
Had 0 CL trophies won, and only a few of them won 1 La Liga before that (Xavi with Van Gaal and Gerard with Valencia).
So, we had a team with 2 players who actually won ANY trophy in their career iirc
Of course that they were running like crazy, fighting and cried after winning a CL in 2006.

For example, today:
Messi has 8 La Ligas and 4 Cls
Busi has 8 La Ligas and 3 CLs, 1 World cup and 2 Euros
Pique has 8 La Ligas and 3 Cls,1 World cup and 2 Euros

No successful story ever started with words: we had a team filled with 32 years old players who have won everything in their career, who currently have zero motivation and zero fighting spirit and we have built a team around them which will dominate the world in the upcoming years...

Players are with Valverde because he lets them do what they want and play regardless of form.

This isn't just about 4-0. We've been playing poor football for most of the time in these 2 years.

Suarez, Busquets and co are great guys, I bet, but you can't let players run the team. Furthermore players without 1 true leader among them.

There's only one solution to this. U have to push out players and even the cores. If u bench this players, we will have an comedy Hollywood drama

I'm still shocked how this cretin didn't learn anything from last year, this is like a sabotage. Even the match we played one week ago showed bad signs because if Liverpool at Camp Nou dominates most part of the match creating several chances it's so obvious at Anfield with the same lineup things would have been much worse.

Let me remind you that yesterday Liverpool trashed us 4-0, Liverpool is a legit contender for the CL since last year and this is their easiest win at Anfield in 6 matches they played in ko stages, even without 2 of their best players

Well that’s true, but nobody is saying that. If the replacement is poor it will be same. Also people are wanting a personell shake up along with the new manager. A truly new era, like what pep did when he first arrived, getting rid of Ronaldinho and deco.

Exactly - nobody is saying that. People just want EV to pay, which is understandable and he probably overstayed his welcome anyway. That said, alternatives are so damn bleak. Setien will happen, I'd be surprised if he didn't come in. Dogma is the upper echelon's favourite tool to control the masses and keep them happy. Cannot wait for the first signs of hype when he gets some decent football going but the stars fail the manager all the same
