Same here. This is the worst season in a decade re how we play. We lost titles under Pep and Lucho but never played this bad consistently.

Good thing is; all dispicable clubs are out so I won't be that pissed if someone else wins it this year.

A bit bored, like a calm sea before the storm so i went to lfc forum and had read barca liverpool match thread. They are talking about barca like they're playing against arsenal, if. I mean, i thought we have a mutual respect, obviously not

I get this feeling they only saw the first United match and think they will blitzkrieg us because of it.
In Messi we trusted though, fully.

Lol @ users here trying to push the narrative that we are just incessant pessimists who can never stay positive.

I would like to know why we should be optimistic. Oh well, I already know the answer to that like domination in the league, so few losses blah blah so let me rephrase and ask what is different this year that wasn't last year to the buildup of Roma

Same old horrible lineups like last season
Same old shitty subs
Same old shitty rotations and rest strategies
Same old mediocre boring play
Some old tons misleading wins thanks to luck or individuals like Messi after a mediocre team performance
Same old Messi saving the day after getting subbed in when he doesn't start and we are losing points
Same old misleading scorelines in CL by playing average (Chelsea last year, Manu this time)
Same old high spirits before the big CL match because we are doing so well in the league and have lost few matches all season (0 last time btw)

The buildup to Roma was totally similar and we got carved open like cake against Roma when a few of us were constantly trying to tell everyone that things weren't right. And we are facing a much better team than Roma and have more losses than last time and I don't see any drastic changes. Not to mention EV still played the gala 11 except Messi 3 days before the match, a mistake one of his assistants revealed in the media that he made last year when he was advised to rest some players before the match, and he still made it when we needed 1 win out of 4 matches to win the league, so he hasn't learned shit.

I am neither a pessimist nor an optimist, I am a realist who sees exactly what it is and I see nothing to stay optimistic about.

If you see nothing to stay optimistic about a team that is 90% certain to do a double double with the GOAT playing in it against a team that last won a elite trophy 14 years ago, then, with respect, that is not being realistic, but pessimistic. Why would you be so negative about something your emotionally invested in? Can't be very rewarding. I could even argue that being a 'fan' requires some level of optimism as a default, otherwise what's the point of being a 'fan' - but that's another matter.

"They will be crapping themselves.

Best defence in England
Best cb in world football
Goals from all over the place
Pace to destroy the very best
Salah and Mane especially will have them crying like little girls.

We will score."

This game will be very close. A goal either way will probably decide it. It would have been different if Liverpool and not Barca still had Suarez and Coutinho

I am neither a pessimist nor an optimist, I am a realist who sees exactly what it is and I see nothing to stay optimistic about.

So you were complaining for 2 years straight and think your complaining was justified and you are vindicated based on 1 result in 2 years which you predict to happen again. Well done to you. Keep complaining. The good old "I'll predict negativity so if it happens I'm Nostradamus and told you so and if doesn't happen my team won and I'm still happy" tactics seems to work nicely for some people's psychology.

This is the worst we play in a decade because this is also the worst Barca team in 2 decades. Or do you still see Neymar dribbling and running on the left flank, Iniesta gliding past players, Alves marauding down the flanks and a younger, more agile Suarez bullying defenders with Xavi spreading balls left and right?

Hilarious how people still can't get to grip with the fact that this isn't a dream team anymore and all the key players are 30+ years old. Just because we got a 22 year old from Brazil who is somewhat promising and a winger who is injured 50 % of the time and the other 50 % of the time trying to regain form, doesn't mean we are the shit.

We have huge holes in the squad, biggest of them being Messi's positioning and the lack of elite rightback, which amplifies the problem even more. Our complete right side is a BIG issue since Lucho's 2nd season when Messi stopped playing on the right. It's impossible to structure the team like this other than 4-4-2-ish which isn't the traditional Barca way of course. We have no right winger, our rightback can't do shit without a winger to combine with and our right midfielder, Rakitic, has to do all the dirt work that the right winger should be doing normally. What's Barcaforum's opinion on this? "Herp derp, Valverde doesn't play dream football and Rakitic should be sold and Roberto is a desaster."

Not even worth discussing. People here actually deserve Sarri or Setien or Sampaoli or Tuchel "how to lose French Cup with 3 trillion Eure PSG" tactical masterclass flavour of the month coaches that they were worshipping in the past 2 years. Real shame Valverde extended.

And yet Barca still has the best team in the world quality wise. Weird how that works. Which is why the tie is pretty even , while Liverpool have the superior manager and better system , Barcelona have the better players and are playing in the Camp Nou which is a fortress.

This tie reminds me of the Bayern tie during the 2014/15 season.

A game of inches really. It's easy to shit our pants but if we can limit the mistakes we can win this one.

Hi everybody I'm a Liverpool fan thought it would be good to converse with some Barca fans as our teams havnt met in such a long time.

I would ignore the silly posts on other LFC forums you get some fans who go over the top I believe Barca are favourites here for these reasons:

- You have an experienced team with many players who have won the CL before. Add your the fact your serial winners in La Liga and Spain so confidence will be sky high

- Overall team looks balanced I like Arthur in midfield. Havnt watched you guys allot this year but it's a nice blend of experience and youth.

-Oh and you have the best player in the world playing for you. Messi alone can decide everything. For Barca his another beast.

If Firmino doesn't play due to injury our forward line wont be as fluid and our pressing game will suffer. I think we will go to Camp Nou to make sure we are in the game for second leg. For me a single goal loss as long we scored isn't a bad result. 2 ir 3-0 will prob mean Barca 90% will get to final.

Above all really hope it's an entertaining game and we all enjoy it although I know I'm going to be tense through both games. CL seems only route we have any chance of silverware this season. Would definitely prefer the league title.

Barcelona is very difficult to beat. It takes a lot of effort and there should be luck. But there are two matches, and they have to do it twice. Native field is important for Liverpool (?), but not for Barca.

they can go through by beating us once like in 2007 when we had puyol, marquez, ronaldinho, messi, etoo, deco, iniesta but lost 1-2 at home and won 1-0 away

They won that game the same way every English team that has ever beaten Barca has, by parking the bus and playing on the counter. Despite their pre-match bravado they will play the same way on Wednesday, scared - parking the bus and unconcerned with possession.

It will be a cagey affair we will be scared of there pace, they will be scared of our name & a man called messi.

Whoever makes the fewest mistakes will win. Like any other football match the stakes are just higher on this one.

I have a feeling we will pull it off.
