21 - Frenkie de Jong

De Jong, Arthur, Roberto (I still consider his best position CM), Aleña, Puig are all for the future.

We are set for the future in modfield.

We now need a future 9 to be developed behind Suarez (still has 2-3 quality seasons in him), a back up LB in order for Alba to rest, a right sided CB and possibly a new back up keeper.

Alcacer 25
Rafinha 25
Denis Suarez 25
Vermaelen 0
Rakitic 60

160 million

I don't think we can sell Rafinha for 20m, he has one year left on his contract, not to mention he is constantly injured. 10m looks more plausible to a La Liga side.

The same with Denis. If Arsenal falls through he probably will stay.

Rakitic for 60m is doubtful too, only PSG will pay that kind of money but they won't.

Sometimes great players can be terrible coaches, especially when those players seem so one dimensional.

There are coaches, and there are "player's coaches" who are basically there as a teacher for certain position. Sort like Henry working with Lukaku with Belgium. Usually great players are good at those but it isn't really that popular in football. I would have loved Xavi in such role, Would have loved some workouts to Dembele from Ronaldinho

Wouldn't it just be perfect if Xavi came in as an assistant coach to Valverde or whoever takes over from Valverde so Arthur, de Jong, Alena and Riqui hopefully can all learn from the master himself.

Not gonna happen though.

Xavi seem to be full of himself tbh. He doesn't seem to be the guy starting from early on to work on his coaching career, may be due to the fact that he will retire very old for a guy who wants to be a future coach. Pep already won treble at younger age than current Xavi.

I hope he knows what he is doing, because if the rumor is true and he wants to start his career in Liga, he might end just like Koeman who was also once supposed to be surely Barca future coach at some point

90 million for a midfielder who stands out at nothing except a bit of dribbling and slightly above average passing in a league that is ranked 6 places below Ligue 1 and even below the Turkish and Ukrainian leagues. Well done.

Let's hope Valverde leaves next summer because the heart attacks on Barcaforum when he rides the bench won't be pretty.

You could have said similarly bad things about Arthur too. Coming from a South America, no experience in Europe at all etc. etc. Most players come either from top teams in weaker leagues, or from weaker teams in top leagues.

Very few players are transactioned between top clubs in top leagues, and those are usually the ones who are close to being free agents.

You're too pessimistic nowadays.

I have never watched Arthur in Brazil so I never made judgements about him (in his highlights he resembled Xavi a lot and that was it). I've watched Frenkie.

I think we found our niche for selling underperforming players. Loan them to the EPL and sell them afterwards. These low-mid table clubs are willing to spend a lot of money now and most of our ‘bad’ players are light years ahead technically than the players in these clubs.

If they are older, China is the best destination for both the played and the club.

And in your opinion he's almost a sure flop just about to be exposed at Barcelona if he comes?

less than half of the cost, Arthur was more of a reasonable gamble than FDJ tbf.
If FDJ became Busquets long term replacement then he is worth the money, but the risk right now is huge. The pressure on him is insane, a player worth fortune whom we had to compete with other rich clubs to get. He just made life harder for himself in the very near future tbh, let's all hope he is up for the challenge
