Mourinho and Valverde are so alike apart from the poisonous toxicity of TSO.

Valverde is cut from the same cloth tegarding tactics (as is Dechamps). But he is badically a colourless coward while Mourinho is a raging charismatic narcissist.
His paradigm got figured out though. Short term motivational trainer no longer alligns with this generation of players so he cant motivate them for his terrible bus football. Without results his bus is exposed as shitty as the way he throws his players under it.
Its been a joy to watch his failure after that pricks attitide towards Barca.
I hope he takes enough time to translate his own failure.

Still early days, but OGS United has shown way better football than both Mourinho and Van Gaal did.

That is actually puzzling, as OGS record as a manager is quite average.

It's not puzzling. Sometimes big clubs and players need LESS management not more. The manager gives a few pointers but gives the freedom to the players to express themselves. That sort of freedom is motivating and empowering.

In regards to my work ex boss left us alone and only stepped in when required. People were happy. New boss is control freak and micro manager. Everyone hates him, people are desperate to leave. A football club is no different really.

Pogba has wasted 2.5 years of his career at Man Utd. Imagine what 2.5 years of work with Pep at Man City could have done to his football abilities and tactical understanding of the game. There is no doubt in my mind that he would be a much better player today.

He is not consistently world class but he is a great manager (say Pep) away from developing into a world class player. That and actually playing in an actual system. Pogba had a very good World Cup for France a few months ago. Say what you want about Deschamps and his football philosophy but he managed to build an actual system and tactic that everyone followed. Man Utd under Mourinho had no such system in place. Hard to shine in such circumstances. He was not the only player who underperformed. Yet despite that (according to my Man Utd supporting mates) he was consistently one of the better performers under Mourinho. Not that this is saying a huge deal.

Totally agree with you for the most part there, However i still think Deschamps isn't a great manager and got by purely on the talent at his disposal. Cup competitions although glamorous aren't a true reflection of a teams/managers abilities imo as there are large elements of luck involved and minimal margin for error. We just have to look at Chelsea's or Portugal's wins as prime examples of that.

I've always said that Valverde is a C grade Mourinho. Everything he's done so far has just reinforced that.

Yawn we only scored the most goals out of ANY other European club, top of the league, only team undefeated in UCL and thenfurst to qualify with the most points in a tough group. But keep saying that Senor Valverde is C grade Mourinho

I never wrote that Deschamps is a great manager. Just that he developed a functioning system and tactic for France that has worked. Regardless of me and many others not being entertained by that tactic or system considering the talent of the French players and that they could play vastly more offensive football. However he used a similar style to what RM has been using in the CL successfully in recent years.

A cautious defensive approach limiting defensive and individual mistakes, a deadly counterattack and reliance on superior individual class than 99,9% of all their opponents. Usually that cocktail is the best one to use in knockout competitions. It has been proven time and time again. I am personally not a fan. Far from it. Not a great fan of cup competitions to begin with.

I agree that's probably the best formula for winning cup competitions.

Like you, football to me is about enjoyment and entertainment. It's upsetting when we lose but its even more upsetting when we play like shit. If football was just about results and nothing else why would anyone bother watching it? Are peoples lives so devoid of any positivity or accomplishment that they're willing to endure such turgid soul sucking football for the sake of ????

Too many people for me focus on the results and not both the result and performance.

Is he unironically the best midfielder in the world right now?

He would have been such an upgrade over Rakitic and not too expensive had we gotten him while his stock was still down under Mouyes.

The best yet ? No. But he has all the attributes required.

His biggest asset is his ridiculous long range pass quality. He did wonders with that in World Cup to launch Mbappé. Same thing happened for the Rashford goal yesterday.

Incredible talent, really.
