I mean isn't that basically exactly what Gomes did when he cried to the media? Don't understand why Valverde keeps playing him. The fans know he's shit, his teammates know he's shit, the other teams know he's shit, and even he himself knows he's shit. I find it very puzzling how the only one who doesn't seem to know or care that he's shit, is the one giving him minutes...

Not his fault but what was that substitution made by valverde???! He came on, we conceded, we are losing 3-0, need a goal, and every single time he got the ball he passed it back to umtiti, he could have kicked it up the field and by luck more would have been created... all he does is make back passes, i said this after the game against leganes too, he did the exact same, but we were leading in that game so it wasn’t important, but in this game, we need a goal, we need to play fast, there was 5 minutes left, he gets the ball facing the roma goalie, turns around, slows down the game and makes a back pass to umtiti...

I'm convinced that said people don't know how to read the game or what to look for, specifically when it comes to team play. Moreover, so many people get so caught up on a few individual mistakes in a game to the point that they ignore all the other good things that a player does in the same game.
This was specially noticeable in november with Rakitic and Suarez, when they were starting to be more productive compared to the beginning of the season but would still make some mistakes. A lot of this sub was still calling for their heads and asking for them to be benched rather than giving constructive criticism (Which I would have agreed with and is easier to have a discussion with). Look at what refusing to give up on them has done. We have been significantly more dangerous and have had an easier time controlling games lately because Rakitic and Suarez are in great form, even if it falls short of their world class forms of years past.
Gomes has been great in the games that he's played in since the beginning of december (excluding el Clasico, where he admittedly struggled), and the most important thing is that he isn't stagnating but actually performing better and better with each game he plays in. He's still only good enough to be a sub in big games, but he's actually starting to become an impactful one, much like Paulinho has been and Sergi Roberto (whenever he doesn't start). That's the kind of valuable midfield depth that this team has sorely lacked and that we have all been begging for, and what made Madrid so terrifying at the beginning of the season before their hilarious implosion.
He's finally beginning to grasp the most difficult system in football, something which was always going to take time for a young player, and I'd be willing to wager that Dembele, Mina, and any other potential new players (Arthur/Griezmann) will take some variation of time to learn and adapt to it. Even Coutinho will likely struggle a bit at first, although his playstyle suggests he'll have the smoothest transition of them all since it's so similar to Iniesta's.
I would take Gomes over Denis and Alena right now without any hesitation.

Since you are very good at reading the game please tell me how Gomes added anything to the team in this game?
Every single ball he got he passed in back to either umtiti or rakitic, he slowed down the game as if we were leading 3-0... if denis came on atleast he would try to push the ball forward, paulinho would fight back to win some balls and is a threat in the box, dembele would add speed to our wings and would allow us to take advantage of romas extremely high line, their two fullbacks were playing in our third of the field the whole game.. the game was 11hours ago and i still cant believe the amateur mistakes valverde made.

He made some passing mistakes, but his positioning seemed to be solid. He seems to be an intelligent player with great potential. He's not bad!
People should stop comparing him to Rakitic. They're two different kinds of players imo
