he just looks lost when he has the ball, he takes so long to make a decision that all it does is end up back passing because the opportunity to go forward is passed and our players are tired of waiting on him.

He lacks confidence and that's expected when the manager choses to play a midfielder in his position instead of him.
He played great at the start of the season until Valverde for no reason chose to play Roberto instead of him in big games. Everybody agreed that he played well back then and nobody understood that decision. Now people forget that and wonder why he lacks confidence to make forward runs.

Weak mentality and poor footballing intelligence.
Just another average RB and not really a better footballer than Digne.
But he still would be a good back-up and that's good since we have huge RB talent in La Masia.

he lacks confidence? lmao then he'll never make it as a world class player if he can't handle rotations and displace a "midfielder" that has been outplaying him
yeah he's great in defense but when we control 75% possession his defense is only useful in one or two plays, whereas his offensive abilities are really no where to be found.. he needs a masterclass throughball from coutinho or messi to shine.. it should be the other way around

All just excuses and if it affects him mentally that much that a 'midfielder' is ahead of him then he wont last long.

Valverde had him as his first choice and gradually Roberto has shown to be the better of the two. If Semedo wants to change that he needs to get a lot better.

Roberto is there on merit.

What are you talking about?
He played very well and then found himself sitting on the bench or even out of the squad for no reason! Is it really difficult to imagine that this would affect his confidence in a new team he joined to be the regular starting RB.

He was being rotated at the beginning of the season as often happens with new signings at big clubs stepping up a level.

Was still first choice for a while until Roberto was the better performing of the two and it changed.

Life at a big club is about earning your place. If that is to much to handle that is a weakness of his.

Patience people. Some of you are too trigger happy. Want to throw out every player after half a season, or call someone a flop after three games.

Players adapt and come out of their shell at different paces. Abidal, Mascherano by his own admission, Neymar took a year to get used to the pace too...

I wouldn't discard him this easy.

He's showed us he can so there's no reason to doubt him, all we can do is wait

Lol this guy is the most highly rated young RB in the world, an't no way some La Masia kid even comes close to him.

Anyways, every player has his adaptation period. The objective should be to get him to perform consistently on the level that he played in games like Juve or Celta.

He has all the talent in the world to make it.

Needs to show more of that talent soon.

Don't think he does, I think he needs to develop a better understanding of his role at RB and become more consistent.

When he's been on game, he's been excellent. But when he's off, he looks lost.

Anyways, he was rated in the same way MAtS was rated as one of the best young GK in the world when he came here. Eventually the talent prevailed after an adjustment period.

Expect Semedo will take the same trajectory.
