That's what caused English teams dominance in the mid to late 2000's

Hence again. But even then the only reason they got dominant is because of vague tactical innovation where no continental team bar Milan and Rijkaard's Barca could produce anything great on a regular basis. There is nothing new from these English teams really. Chelsea seem to have most to offer on that front. Spurs are so green and we may or may not see anything great from them. Not really surprised Pep is doing well either, was always gonna happen IF it clicked with them.

So so sad. I hope that at least some other team from the same level as Spuds will save Europe from this sort of trend.

But frankly? I think United will take it.

There was nothing new in Real that won three of last four either.

Nothing new in any team really that have won it in years bar Peps Barca.

Didn't Madrid win the CL finishing 2nd out of their group in the last two years?

Luls. In last two years group was more competitive than this year, because of the freefall Borussia are in. Finishing second wasn't that much of a surprise. This year though? Being embarrassed by albeit decent Spurs team preying on RM's worst form since the curse of Round of 16 doesn't leave the same feeling.

I agree. Not tactically. But individually RM had the most magic individual performances of all teams anywhere. Well maybe bar Zidane's first CL, but hey, that's still individual drive of these players. Which is pretty much what RM was always about, so I don't really care about US innovating things. I enjoy brilliant players coming together without some rigid scheme to adhere to. It's what always made them entertaining. It's a double edged sword of course, because it yields zero regularity in winning. Which is why Barca are always more successful in the league since Cruyff innovation.

Dortmund though if they were more competent they would be pressuring Real big time for that 2nd spot.

but as you can see they aren't doing well at all this season.

Madrid were shit, that RB and Marcelo were so poor tonight. Ramos as a defender is so overrated its not even funny and that Nacho guy.. Ronaldo is on a huge decline, barely involved these days. great to see Spurs doing well. imo City are favourites with PSG a close 2nd. doesn't look good for Spanish teams this year but ill wait before all the 'PL domination' bullshit as United and Chelsea look garbage.

From the best team in the world to a mid-table la liga team, in a couple of months.
Biggest decline since Inter?
I understand we had a better squad last season, but even our first team is crap, every single player has been subpar for months now.
It doesnt make any sense, what is going on?

piss easy group and if you watched their games they were awful. yesterday they were lucky to win 2-0 vs Benfica with Lord Douglas at RB and that was after missing a pen. City and Spurs look the business.
