I was thinking today If Messi is leaving Barca to Newell Old boys in mid-2018 as I suspect he will, then he needs to let 'the fans' know by February at the very latest and just accept that he will be getting even greater media attention.

I think he's putting all his focus on the World Cup. If he doesnt make it again, most likely he will leave Barcelona. The future of Barca with Bartomeu is looking bleak, and is gonna be putting too much load on him to carry. Once Iniesta retires, I think hes gonna leave. Besides, he won everything at Barca and he doesnt really care about individual awards.

Messi could easily play with us untill 2021/2022. Then at age 34/35 he could still easily tear up the league in Argentina. It would be way too soon at 31.

AFA President cries when he meets Messi after the match.

No doubt Leo saved his job.

About Drogba tweet
Just for the record, Drgoba probably knew what Salah meant to Egypt, facing us many times and eliminating us in 2006 from qualifiers, I doubt he meant a bad thing on Messi.
People need to get over social media obsession and following every like/retweet etc

Yes, but you really don't retweet something if you don't agree with/subscribe to the message conveyed in the original tweet so rightfully people thought he was mocking Messi.

A belated "Congrats!" on Egypt making it by the way, khaled!

I might stick some money on Argentina. Messi is in the form of his life this season and I think with more time especially time in training Sampaoli will mould Argentina into a team.

Playing with Messi is completely different than playing in another team because and we see it with Barca too everything goes through him. For that to work players need to perform their supporting role and it's a job probably unlike what they are used to.

On deeper thought this could end up to be a bane in disguise if argentina don't sort themselves out till the WC. In the current state there is 0 chance of them winning WC because every team willl know that they just have to stop messi and that would do it. Players need to step up and that bald coach too who picks lineups worse than enrique.

With the current state argentina will be knocked out around the quarters and then critics will critic with the usual rhetoric that the team was good enough to reach here and messi failed in the end. Failiure to qualify the WC would have at least shown the world what a joke argentina is without messi.

QF exit is normal, they have made it further only once since 1990 and it was under him. Failure to qualify is an all time embarrassment
And they could do a lot in WC if one of their strikers start to finish those chances

Everything can happen in international football. Hate to even have to mention it, but just look at Portugal in the Euros last year. Let's be honest, they should never ever even made it out of the group stages.

But they were considered lucky in terms of avoiding all the big countries like Germany and Italy. World Cup will be a whole new different story with a more likelihood to face Spain, Germany or even Brazil at an earlier stage. Portugal has gotten much stronger and better chemistry with players like Bernado Silva and Semedo. If Argentina dont have players to strengthen their squad and get their shit together, even a Messi miracle cant bring them through the whole campaign.
