we are all saying buying dembele and coutinho while Madrid are busy building their future team around Varane, theo, Asensio and ceballos . we should flush out Rakitic, Busquets, iniesta, pique, delofeu, vidal, Alba, Turan and mascherano ,And bring in lee, dembele, coutinho, vitinho, Alena, samper, park and host of good players frm Team B and uncle xavi as their lovely coach they will respect him because he has done and see it all just like Zidane. #his a fucking legend.

Maybe get Couthino and Dembele first - plus Dybala ;)

Then install Xavi and Iniesta has coach and assistant , get Puyol involved as well - then start with a nucleus of Messi, Suarez and Pique , surrounded with all the young players we bought last summer then add the potential stars of the future like Samper and the other kids ..
It would be a bumpy ride for a year or so but who knows where it would take us !?

This just doesn t make sence. After 2, essencialy pre-season matches there is no need for panic mode and especialy blaming coach. In USA the team didn t look bad. Infact, we won all matches there.
Than, Neymar happened. Of course this had a huge impact on the team and it will take some time to recover, but it is not Valverde s fault, that the club is in the current state.

Board should resign. Before that they should buy what we need and sell what we don t need. Since they have 2 weeks left to do that, im not that optimistic.

My main concern about the manager is that it appears that has had no say in these potential transfers and on the face of it he's gonna be a yes man or a scapegoat if things go pear shaped

Well, Xavi is gone and Iniesta is always hurt. Do you think that bringing Coutinho and Dembélé would turn this team around under Valverde?

Of course it would. But the team will still need (much)better managment in the future. Even in most dominant period, there were quite a few
bad decisions, but it didn t affect the team, because they were that good. Now, every transfer/decision counts. Buying Paulinho is obviosly something that nobody understands
and i m sure Valverde didn t have anything to do with it. For me it was the final straw for this board and they should resign.

Still, it isn t time to panic. This were just 2 pre-season games, but patience capability of average football fan is very low. We are easely influenced by 1 single game.

Yes pep would not sign Paulinho. The difference with the 3 players you mention is they are better technically than Paulinho especially hleb and fabregas. Every top team would have signed those two. They just didn't work out for whatever reason. Fabregas was Ok and helped us win things.

Valverde also didn't sign Paulinho but now that he's here it's up to him to use him the best he can. After yesterday game I think he could actually be an improvement over current Rakitić (I expect him to play mostly in his position) but time will tell.

Maybe Pep would have more power to decline signing like that (because he's a club legend) but I doubt. He also didn't prevent us to sign Keirrison and Henrique in Laporta's era. Some things are just above managers and those type of signings clearly are.

With 222m (+ whatever was left) we could have bought both of them and get it done with fast. Then we could have sold few players, even under their worth, and buy another CMF.

Now we spent 40m on Bartos corruptive bussines and miss on two big hitters.
I'm just baffled why we lay out all that money on Samedo and Paulhino and now we're counting pennies and playing hardball for the two players we really need ?!?

Let me mention things which are very obvious yet many in this forum aren't aware of

1. The board and the scouting department should take the 100% blame.

The board for drifting away from the Total Football Philosophy and making the club as a business organization and disrespecting Cruyff.

The scouting department for spending the whole year sleeping only to look clueless at the last month of the transfer. Like Jombi always use to say, it is not always wise to expect us to buy starting players from the big clubs. We should have scouted and bought the likes of Asensio, Kovacic, Veratti before they have been bought by other big clubs. We had the best midfield in the history of football. Now, we are here with the likes of Rakitic.

2. Rakitic is never a world class player. And more important than that is signing him and Suarez (and even Neymar because of his stardom status, as Cruyff mentioned) means we are drifting away more from the midfield control oriented football. And apart from that, it is Suarez who should have received the amount of criticism which Neymar received. But he escaped because of some random goals which he score more often than not.

3. We still have 5 World Class starting Players in the team

Messi, Busquets, Umtiti, Pique, Ter Stegen.

In Addition to that we also have Iniesta who can be the best midfielder in the world even now if the coach take the defensive burden off him and make him to link up with Messi more often.

4. It seems more and more apparent for me that JamDav is either a board member or someone close to the board members.

5. Because of the 5 or 6 World Class players I mentioned we can still dominate the world with an efficient Midfield oriented system and few good signings and likes of Alena (and to some extent Roberto). We have lost Veratti does not mean there is no controller out there. There are players like Seri which the board should have signed within the first few days of the transfer.

6. People are so quick to change their opinion. Gomez still appears to me as a player of very high potential. But I will not expect him to shine in a system which doesn't utilize the capacity of Busquets and Iniesta properly. And in my opinion the players we need are just three i) Seri ii)Coutinho iii)Dybala. I have not seen much of Dembele, so cannot suggest him. But I have seen few posts in these forum after Juventus destroyed us that if Dybala failed to scored in the cl final, people here in the forum would conclude that he is the most overrated player in the world. It was posted because the many users had already concluded that he is the future ballon d'or after the match against us. The reality is that he is the closest thing to Messi in the football world at the moment. But he cannot show his potential at Juventus. Coutinho, Dybala upfront with Messi as CF and with a midfield of Iniesta, Seri and Busquets should be the starting line up in my opinion. If Suarez had to be played, then you might have three men defense with four persons in midfield including Messi.

7. Barca fans should stop their obsession with Mbappe. He is the most overrated thing after Ronaldo.

8. Ballon d'or is a joke. It is never about the best player in the world. It is just about the most famous player in the best team of the world. For the good of football the award should be stopped.

Good post and welcome to the forum :)

Unbelievable! Messi has not signed his new contract, yet. Bartomeu said he did at least two weeks ago. According to Mestre, in the Paulinho presentation, Messi might sign it soon! If we lose Messi, we are fucked for the next five years, at least. This board lost Neymar and maybe Messi, but they brought in Paulinho.

Suarez is out for at least 4 weeks!

I don t think there is a possible scapegoat for this board. Even if they put possible faliure on coaches back, he was still their choice.

I also think rakitic needs to be replaced but certainly not with Paulinho who is less technically gifted. I would give Roberto rakitics place
