I just dont understand what is so hard about buying him and promoting, then letting him fight for the minutes. Stop loaning out players.

He could easily be our 5th/4th CB here and Lucho likes him a lot.

I do understand the club is stuck in regards to do with him and while it's true he needs minutes you will need to look at our current CB options. Umtiti is being groomed for that LCB spot and will likely be Mascherano's successor.

The two players I have question marks after this season are Mascherano and Mathieu. When it comes to Mascherano It's a mystery on what his motivations are despite him being in top form again. I have this feeling he maybe wants to leave after this season despite signing a new deal as he mentions he wanted to at least play in Italy once in his career and he nearly left for Juventus this summer but we will have to wait until the end of the season in regards to that.

Mathieu? He's a polarizing player to the Barca Fan base but for me he's been reliable. but his age and injury issues are starting to catch up and he hasn't been his best this season and it appears it's down hill from here.

If the club wants him to stay and not go on loan the best case scenario would be for him to be our 4th CB and for Mathieu to either be sold or take a much lesser role as our 5th CB. He could rotate the RCB spot with Masche and Pique and learn from them.

Either way he won't be a starter here for awhile considering Pique is still 29/30 next year and that LCB spot will most likely go to Umtiti with the way things are going.

What's the logic in a loan? He'll play slightly more and then come back to be behind Pique, which would be the case in the first place too. Just buy him in January and promote him in the summer. It's that simple. It's so frustrating. It's like Lucho doesn't have the guts to take on the early development stage for any player, but instead sending them out on loan to gain "experience" when they are good enough for the first team, when there's room for them, and when the best possible experience they can get is in Barça. He's so short-term-minded, it's frustrating.
