Why the hell is Mathieu playing this many minutes since he's been absolute garbage so far this season? Doesn't make any sense punishing Vidal for bad performance, but not doing the same with Mathieu. Hope Deportivo ain't very good, because a very good team can certainly punish a 3 at the back with Jeremy Mathieu in it.

For the same reason Rafinha is getting so many minutes over Denis - he is Lucho's favorite.

Because he's a RB and we don't need to change formation and play other players out of their positions as well. And he's still our player until January, we could just as well use him until then in games like today. I really don't get Lucho's stubborness.

he is not a rb ffs and hes not even that good in attack. Even Rafinha does better job there so why not give minutes to him.

Rafinha has actually shown something in recent games except Celta. He was among our best vs Leganes and Gijon. Mathieu on the other hand has been with Vidal our poorest player up until this point this season. Yet Vidal is being left out of pretty much every game, and Mathieu gets to start and commit error after error. Positional errors, bad fouls in all the wrong places, technical errors you name it. To me, this alone makes me doubt Lucho even more.

Again, let's hope Deportivo at home is not a big deal.

So we will again play 3-4-3 just to avoid playing Vidal or Palencia. Lucho is really going on my nerves right now! This is becoming worst than in his first year. If we do not buy real RB in January this could ruin the entire season for us!

This current squad needs no reinforcements in January. There is plenty of flexible talent. There is no reason to play 4-3-3 all the time, especially in games like today when the opponents have weak attacks.

3-4-3 or 3-5-2 today will free up the wingback Digne and (I hope) Rafinha to do what they do best. They've got the speed and energy to help out in deep defense some, but they are primarily offensive players.

Dens Suarez looked real perky when Lucho finally put him into the last game, I hope he gets a start today.

Rafinha can play RW.

Sorry, but I'd take Vidal-Pique-Masche-Digne; Raki-Busi-Arda; Ney-Suarez-Rafinha lineup over what we have out there today. So just replace Mathieu with Vidal and play anyone else on their best positions instead of playing 4-5 players out of position.

Not only can Rafinha play RW. That's his best position imo. When you have Messi out and you want to keep the 4-3-3 (which you really should do, considering we're playing one of La Liga's weaker teams at home), Rafinha has to play there.

More crazy rotations and experimentation.

Mathieu starting is a joke. Poor performance after poor performance and he still gets to start.

only digne is playing out of position in 3-4-3 the rest can handle it. Playing Vidal is like playing with 10 men and we have seen it already this season. Mathieu is shit too but atleast he brings height and can possibly score a lucky header from a setpiece.

Between own goals, missed sitters and shite defending I can't think of anything positive Mathieu has done this season.

Mathieu at CB has been a total nightmare. Mathieu at LB has historically been even worse. Fun fact, Deportivo is the game Mathieu single handedly costed us last season, also playing from LB, and that was when he was younger and still had his meniscus.

Mascherano has been having terrible games week in, week out as well. I want to give Lucho the benefit of the doubt and say he's only playing because Umtiti is just returning from injury... but somehow I doubt it.

And Digne at RB? I dunno, man.

And Rafinha at RW is fine and all but if Paco is really so useless to even Lucho that he can't get a start here then I have to seriously question why he was bought in the first place.

If we drop points it's all on Lucho.
